I was prepared to defend the existence of such a thing as a 'kick synth', but after watching the video I am actually inclined to agree that this is a bit over the top.
'Modular rack style fx' in a synth, is one thing.
Modular fx in a drum synth, is another.
Modular fx, sample loading, and 'analog processing modules' in a kick synth, is a bit much.
I have no doubt it is excellent, but, wild guess: The price is also 'a bit much'.

Guys, these kick drum vsts are nothing new. Have some of you been hiding under a rock? Metrum, big kick, kickR, Kick2, Punch BD.. All kick drum plugins, most of which have synth modules and sample loading functionality. I dig.

Indeed. Kick2 is my best purchase this year so far.pheeleep wrote:Guys, these kick drum vsts are nothing new. Have some of you been hiding under a rock? Metrum, big kick, kickR, Kick2, Punch BD.. All kick drum plugins, most of which have synth modules and sample loading functionality. I dig.

Well Im not totally unfamiliar, but kick drum vsts that are to this degree are not so common to me, or old hat. Maybe Im just starry eyed by the flash vid, but this one seems to be aiming for the top of the list. "The last kick vst youll ever need.™"pheeleep wrote:Guys, these kick drum vsts are nothing new. Every time I buy a new drum synth, I'm convinced that it is the last one I'll ever need. But somehow, I always seem to need one more...highkoo wrote:"The last kick vst youll ever need.™"

With their arsenal, it can easily turn into a big modular system. The effect rack itself going to be very powerful, just add the synth stuff from Lush and Phoscyon, plus a decent sequencer using their expertise.

Easily recreateable in any Daw that does racks or your favourite sub host

Looking forward to try this
Oooo cynic porn....Well by that logic you can recreate any piece of historical music tracks in any daw - yet for some reason people have hard time doing this. Go figureVariKusBrainZ wrote:Easily recreateable in any Daw that does racks or your favourite sub host

Looks tasty... but not sure if I'd ditch BigKick for a new kick synth. It does good what it does. I can add FX in the channel.
If Punch Box has some features that makes my life easier... why not. D16 always develops great plugins.
