Well, their stuff was ridiculously cheap (I mean less than what it costs me to buy lunch where I work), so while I agree with you in principle, this is not exactly a case of a $200 plugin being lost because some call/response system was shut down.Deist wrote:this situation just conforted me in my resolution never to buy from anything but strong well-known companies. It was distributed as a password protected rar-file and was a copy/paste install. If you still have the files (either installed or in their original download form), you can use it forever, anywhere, anytime. Unlike some big-dev systems that require their server to be up and running.
But it's probably a good idea to back up or upload stuff from small developers to your cloud ASAP after purchase, even if they don't use an expiring download link.
I'm still hoping this is just some glitch after moving/taking a new job/getting a divorce/going bankrupt or whatever and it will all bounce back in a month or so. A couple of weeks is nothing if you're emigrating or moving across the country.
