don't worry! i just found out myself, i like at least the first album, not because it is avantgarde (is it?), but because i hear, they had a lot of fun doing it and i like it, because it is funny, imo.robojam wrote:Don't get me wrong, I like avant garde, musique concrete, etc., but the Lennnon stuff just doesn't grab me.

The first one is the best one probably, but I'm still not sure I could give it a second listen...mellotronaut wrote:don't worry! i just found out myself, i like at least the first album, not because it is avantgarde (is it?), but because i hear, they had a lot of fun doing it and i like it, because it is funny, imo.robojam wrote:Don't get me wrong, I like avant garde, musique concrete, etc., but the Lennnon stuff just doesn't grab me.

this is the one with the cake:

almost Kurt Schwitters. this is really avantgarde, imo and quite good.
edit: it has hypnotic effects
edit 2: i was listening to the whole 22:42 and i really like it. i must admit, one can be bored about two words and some noise repeated again and again with different timbres, but for me this is a great profession of love.

I don't like either the Beatles or the solo works from any of them. Good melodies, obviously, but the lyrics make me cringe, at best.

High five! Beatles is the most overrated band in history.RunBeerRun wrote:I don't like either the Beatles or the solo works from any of them. Good melodies, obviously, but the lyrics make me cringe, at best.
This thread actually made me check out Roger Waters' Amused to Death. Ho hum! Pretty unremarkable album that was. So that leaves David Gilmour as a sole owner of a decent solo material. Though his earlier albums weren't that good, the latest one was excellent. If the new Pink Floyd album is anywhere close to that it will be pretty good.
