Ugh. Seems that this is starting to replace feedback compressor 2 on master. I'm in between. Maybe GE...

+1 for this. I reported this recently via email but never heard back. Hope this can be fixed soon!

Love the video by Dan. He's always so amazing at explaining things!

Agreed. To me Dan is the uncrowned hero of demo/tutorial videos. :)

Indeed great video. Though I personally think that the Peak/Crest knob was presented a bit too complicated. But even a tired engineer (like me currently) understood what he was saying.

If someone would ask me what this mode does, I would told him/her this:
The Peak/Crest knob declares a second threshold for the "peak compression" module only. i.e. if the Threshold is setup to -18dB and the crest knob is at +5dB, the transient portion of the signal feed needs to actually exceed -13dB in order for the peak compression to respond.

The same the other way around: Threshold at -18dB, but Crest at -3dB. That means that the transient portion of the signal is already processed as soon as it goes over -21dB, while the average signal portion starts to compress at -18dB.

The drum set was a great example for this.

To me, Kotelnikov is one hell of a release for 2014. It is a highly versatile compressor for all kinds of things - not just mastering. Though if I want "aggressive" or just "ease of use", I'll simply access something else. And I do say that as person that usually only touches compression if it's really needed.

Holy crap! Equal loudness bypass? I am so there... Wasn't planning on Yet Another Compressor, but this thing looks fantastic.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

Well, this seems pretty awesome, just going to download and try it it now, if everything goes fine I'll be all over the Gentlemen's Edition like a fat kid on a cup cake.
Say NO to CLAP!

This looks awesome!

Trying to understand that FDR thing...
Am I right thinking that technically what it does is EQing the delta before "applying" it to the original signal?

these TDL plugs, like the NI compressors/eq's, do not play at all well with my wacom tablet, and so are totally unusable for me :(

i wonder if anyone on the development team nows how to implement this functionality :)

That is my understanding of it, yes. Very clever, and very useful too.

I'm more impressed with the compressor itself, you can hear compression, and that's it, nothing else!
