Im looking for a strings and orchestral sound library.

I'm torn between the MOTU symphonic instrument and the IK Multimedia philharmonik.

The MOTU is cheaper and has some interesting instruments like the crumhorns etc its also slightly bigger. I heard the demos on the site and was really impressed but.. theres a deal where I can get T-racks free with the philharmonik...

What you guys think?

Mike.

I Don't own either of those. I use GPO extensively & the Vienna stuff in Kontakt2 is also pretty decent.

I had a listen to the garittan stuff on their site and wasnt that impressed, though it has been recommended.

I'd personally go with Miroslav. Very "warm" sounding. Plus, it's not dongle free! :)

Thanks for the input Zai

I think he meant "now dongle free".

I have both GPO and Philharmonik and they complement each other well. MOTU Symphonic Instrument got panned in a review (and it uses Pace to boot). There's also Halion Symphonic Orchestra, Kirk Hunter Emerald or Sapphire if you already own Kontakt2 or Giga/GVI, and a few others. There's a thread about GPO vs Philharmonik over in "Instruments" right now.

Up in the right-hand corner of this page, there's a drop-down for "Quick Instrument Links". That's where I found this:

This thread has links to Devon Brent's reviews of both GPO and Philharmonik, along with discussion on the two products.
