OK, for clarification.. I guess that i am mostly talking about sounds here.. As a counterpoint to the "what Plugin sounds like xxx synth" threads. Can we think of a synth or plg-in which has defied emulation..
Of course, as somebody mentioned above, these things can be subjective, some would say that the Minimoog or Roland 303 have never been succesfully emulated but what I am referring to is synths like the VS, Yamaha SY or perhaps the synclavier which don't have an obvious vsti option.
having said that I am amazed how the same names will crop up in those type of threads with the posters feeling that, given enough time, synth1, crystal, polyIblit etc etc can sound like anything..

You can do find some pretty unique things in Reaktor 5 and the second Reaktor 5 Instruments addon.
