Some likes and dislikes
Psy-T & Knockman Present Ab Absurdo - Benificium Auris
Like: the collab, mix of different qualities, great vocals, electric piano
Dislike: what I'm guessing is milestone, in the last part of the song
Markleford - Oh No! Mr. Sloppy is Back!
Like: Funky, sound like a jam. Guitar solos, great drum sound
Dislike: nothing really
me109 - I Saw Her Standing There - The Sequel
Like: Vocals, especially the choir sound sweet as honey. Composition
Dislike: Mix for the lead vocals could be bit more in the front. The sound of the claps (lower pitch might be better, they sound a bit thin right now). The drum sounds aren't the best for this song.
Mellotronaut - Froscheier
Like: Great vocals. Well mixed.
Dislike: bit hard to get into
Sepheritoh - Judge them not
Like: Guitars, the vocals are great. Strong middle part.
Dislike: bass sound and intro notes, lead sound
Slartibartfast - Lullaby
Like: Great vocals, mixed very well, very smooth
Dislike: Bit too sweet for my taste
Dr. Apostrophe X - Fat Camp Lap Dance
Like: Funky bass and guitar
Dislike: Didn't like the joke, horns remind me of old adventure pc games
Aziraphal - The Sparrow's Lament
Like: Composition, sounds used. A part is my favorite
Dislike: makes me feel sad
Farlukar - First alert
Like: Composition, dark sounds, percussion
Dislike: little bit too much reverb on the percussion maybe
Funkychickendance - Demonic Jazz Finito
Like: Intro, sounds. First 20 secs really grabbed me
Dislike: the sax sound, the way it was played and mixed.
Col. G - Mouse ate my banana
Like: Drums sound pretty solid, extra sound effects.
Dislike: Vocals don't convince and take some of the rock out of this song.
Polite Company - Trackin' Abac
Like: Some of the melodies (b part particularly)
Dislike: The lead sound
Psy-T & Knockman Present Ab Absurdo - Benificium Auris

Thanks for the review, Core! Yeah, you're right, it's not easy to get into it. It makes some people happy, some angry.
Good idea with the like/dislike sections in your reviews. It gives the reviews a human touch.

It's after midnight, and I finally got my votes in even though the movers come to take all my stuff 1000 miles away tomorrow and I'm not done packing yet!
(The missus is going to kill me... )
Fun month, everyone: loved all the great instrumentals.
I'll see you all from my new hometown in 1-2 weeks (or maybe sooner, stealing wireless along the way). Hopefully I'll get all my gear unpacked in time to participate next month!
Cheers,
- m

Enjoy the move (as much as a move can be enjoyed, anyway).

Thanks - I'll work on the snare.NikP2000 wrote: this really nails the early beatles/roy orbison/rockpile sound drums could be a little punchier
I was listening to the original on vinyl with a turntable that's as old as the record - I can only get one channel out of it, so I probably used way more reverb than necessaryNapalmbob wrote: You've certainly captured that era well. Maybe too well as that last guitar bit sounds too . . . reverbed??? No idea, just a little weird.

For sheer cheek (and also, excellent Beatles rhythm guitar channeling)
I agree, the lead vocal got lost in the bridge and the claps would sound better a little lower, but I think they're pretty close to the Beatle's claps, and this was an unabashed attempt to copy their style.Core wrote: Like: Vocals, especially the choir sound sweet as honey. Composition

Sorry I haven't had a chance to do any reviews this month or last, but the music has been really good from everybody.

Happy birthday Psy-T!
Thanks everyone for the votes, I can't deny I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get more yet, but hey it's a good excuse to not have to sing again
Oh, and another nr.1 vote for you Gordon, love your track!
