this is the sound of friction coefficients (force, velocity, grip, impetus) applied to a physically modeled 2nd order mass-spring.
god knows what kind of music this might be used for. you want different synths? here's one way to do it

That is pretty wild. Can you get slower velocity with increased grip? I'm thinking less squeek and more fingers across a big balloon. Not that I have any idea how I might use such a sound, but it just came to mind when listening to the tail of the first few examples in your mp3.

That demo mp3 really bugged the heck out of my cat...

previous file based on 'realistic' coefficients.. didn't sound so good because i figure one of the primary factors with balloons is surface elasticity, which isn't modeled here.
updated file is more balloony sounding
i'll be adding waveguides which should help for modeling resonant dimensions of the object.
and yes.. there's nothing like LOUD high frequency transients to make your cat give you the stink-eye

I used to have a 56k dial up modem that sounded like that! :--)xoxos wrote:http://www.breathcube.com/friction01.mp3

After hearing the first demo I though what the heck?! Now after listening through all I'd say you got some very special going on here. Cannot wait until I can try it.

Are you a genius or what!? You've definitely got something going there with the whole physics math to sound waves. :O Damn man. :O

Heh, in the cat experience experiment, four of mine all looked at each other with a "who's farted" accusatory look. The other three on the other hand didn't even raise a whisker, so I guess they just can't appreciate the effort you've made.
