I generally run the output of the sequencer through a lag generator (and then to the filter) which can tame the sound. Using the attack and release controls shapes the sound nicely... smoothing the harsh edges as desiredKBSoundSmith wrote:
Those are some really nice examples. I particularly liked Bazille8. And that sequencer trick you mentioned is pretty sick--I got some really funky stuff using it, although I have to tame it still.
You can also set the sequencer time parameter to notes as another option...
