Those are some really nice examples. I particularly liked Bazille8. And that sequencer trick you mentioned is pretty sick--I got some really funky stuff using it, although I have to tame it still.
I generally run the output of the sequencer through a lag generator (and then to the filter) which can tame the sound. Using the attack and release controls shapes the sound nicely... smoothing the harsh edges as desired

You can also set the sequencer time parameter to notes as another option...

Due to limitations (memory, cpu speed) we initially thought of doing 3 independent fixed structure modulars (ACE XL, Bazille and something called Lush Modular). But meanwhile we're seeing a chance to do a big modular synth in the style of ACE and Bazille, but with exchangeable modules. Which of course is a slightly bigger challenge.

So we've been thinking of maybe finishing Bazille as a synth on her own and releasing her like ACE, as a mouth watering device that'll be fully deductable towards the full Berlin Modular system.

Now that sounds light a great idea :) Yes please

So I've always wanted to be able to modulate the amount of quantization. It occurred to me tonight that if I change the amplitude of the signal going into the quantizer it will change the range of values the quantizer produces (while also changing the volume of the signal). I figured if I could boost the signal at the output of the quantizer by the same amount that I'm attenuating the signal at the input, then I can achieve a voltage controllable quantizer or bit-crusher.

Here is the result of my experiment...

It's not perfect, I still haven't gotten the balance of modulation depth quiet right so it doesn't maintain a constant volume but if you watch the oscilloscope, you'll get the idea.

I don't know if this is helpful for anyone but feel free to use this patch as you wish. If you have any ideas to improve or expand upon the concept, please let me know. :)

While we're on the topic of tips... it may not be immediately obvious that you can use any audio/modulation signal to clock the sample and hold module. The most common use of this is to send noise to the signal input and an lfo to the clock input to get stepped random modulation but there are lots of other cool things you can do. Processing an audio rate signal while clocking the sample and hold with another audio rate signal results in sample rate reduction (the sample rate can be modulated by changing the pitch of the oscillator thats being used as the clock).

You can also use an LFO>Quantizer>S&H to achieve arpeggiator like effects.

Play with the rate and phase controls for LFOs 1 and 2.

Bazille is such a deep synth. It really rewards experimentation. When I started using it I had tons of feature requests (well, I still do ) but after spending a lot of time with Bazille, I realized that a lot of the things I thought were lacking are actually possible when you think about things in terms of components interacting with each other (as opposed to thinking in terms of the features of the individual parts). I guess thats a convoluted way of saying that it's greater than the sum of it's parts. :)

bug?

init (osc1 connected to voicemix1)
Drag Seq-in to voicemix1out then r-click on voicemix1out - "none"

I love Bazille too. So here's my little contribution to the Bazille sequencer playground.

Bazille patch - sequencer is adding additional modulation to the filter. Sequencer pattern advance is driven by a slow ramp up from LFO2.

Here's what it sounds like. I wanted a slow, sonorous kind of ambience. Arpeggiated in Live. The added delay from Live adds to the spacey sound from the filter modulation.

I really dug your sounds too. I've gotta try some audio rate junk on the sequencer!!

Here's some more Bazille love. This one is a really simple patch, but for me, it managed to emote the right feelings, so I thought I'd share. It's a simple bell-like timbre fed into some delay and reverb, with some lush harmony.

That is a really, really nice sound!

Well thank you, I'm glad you liked it. It was an enjoyable patch to work on (and the nice harmony certainly doesn't hurt). Bazille has been pretty inspiring (and Zebra, and Diva... )

Another Bazille sound using the step sequencer on pitch, FM and cutoff...

Hmmm... outputs don't normally have menus, do they?

and then save preset through bazille.

Oh. That looks like a bug. I'll try that tomorrow :)

I'd like to have some way to increase the output gain... Fairly often I create a preset where even with output volume at max it is too quiet. So sometimes I send a filter output to both outputs to increase it, and sometimes I send the filter output to a multiple multiple times to increase volume... but other times I am using a number of simultaneous filter outputs and am already using the multiples and those options do not work...
