And it's free.

breakmixer, you did a great job putting together that list. I can't think of anyone better to spend a couple days with Google doing the research to find the answer.

You might want to start here:

http://www.studio-compyfox.de/

Go to that page, then Projects, then Hardware Research.

Swing is the difference between a drum machine and a sex machine.

And I just wanted to pimp my own page. :hihi:

Nah seriously, it can only get bigger, but research takes time, so does updating. If I find time again, I might get back to it - still want to enhance the "other" section.

BTW:
No direct-linking please.
The "hardware emulation" list can be found in "Projects" on my page. Thanks.

Well crap, it's too hard to find otherwise. For about a minute, I thought you had taken it down.

I'll edit my post, though. Sorry.

Sorry, not meaning to be rude, but it's kind of hard to take the question seriously when you have a lot of dupicate pieces of hardware in the list. If you don't know the hardware, or even know the differences between the pieces in your list, why would you want an emulation of it? :?

Devon
Simple music philosophy - Those who can, make music. Those who can't, make excuses.

But that list recited would be an awesome bit of performance art, wouldn't it?

Stop taking life so seriously! PS They cannot be duplicates as they are all listed on the synth timeline, where i got the models from! Different versions of the models

Post

Thing is, there are so many "sound alikes" and "look alikes", finding the "right thing" is the hardest part. And... not to be rude, but half of that upper mentioned stuff wasn't ever emulated.

In terms of Waldorf for example:
the Largo and Komplexer come close to the Q (since it has the Q "innards"), but it is not a Q. The MicroQ is a "limited" Q (therefore includes the original Q).

In case of Yamaha:
The MU-series, everything from MU-1x to MU-50 is basically the same unit, just more voices and different GUI. Also the Motif "revisions": all newer Motif's include all earlier samples, just the internal structure is different. Btw: your only bet to actually "get" a MOTIF, is getting Cubase 4 and up. The bundled Rompler however is nothing more as what it is: a rompler, no synthesis, no workstation functions, etc.

I didn't list "sample collection romplers" on my page btw. Like SonikSynth or Omnisphere. I did some exceptions with the Nord Lead (since it's a product from NORD directly), but I left out the usual suspects (Arturia, IKM, Spectrasonics).

And as you can read for yourself, that list was last updated over half a year ago. Like I said, it's a time issue to keep track of all that. I put it into a subsection of my page around 1,5 year ago, but it's still easy to find since it's a "side-project" from what I usually do, and my sig still tells you it's there.

It would be good though if someone could write the emulations next to it...

Post

Er... why, if you have a large page like mine for that?

Also prepare yourself for a LOT of heated discussions of what is actually an emulation and what not. Been there... trust me.

Wish I could update my list someday (it will happen) and/or get it complete, but that'll never happen (being complete).

You should do it! Just pour all those into a spreadsheet and get started.

It was done as a joke, but also an interesting subject! I'm checking your page out though! :D
