I asked this on some other forums and got some feedback, been trying out a bunch of VSTs and bought some and now I turn to you for your input.
So what VST and VSTi's do you recommend for producing trance? (both effects and instruments)
Also if there is any other software I should know about, please drop that here too.
(Heads up for anyone that wants to preach about how "WHAT you use isn't important, it's HOW", thanks I know that by now and I won't take that comment seriously.)

I'd recommend Discovery or Discovery Pro.
Both have some excelled trance based banks included. Vengeance Sounds designed several commercial soundsets for them as well.

Best regards,
George.

You should be able to make "trance" with near enough any soft synth available.Ryuji wrote:I asked this on some other forums and got some feedback, been trying out a bunch of VSTs and bought some and now I turn to you for your input.

Its more "features" a synth offers that is more important ie arpeggiator and or maybe (this is subjective) a supersaw wave.
From the top of my head, the most talked about synths, and the ones I use geared for the trance head would be something like:
Predator,
Superwave synths,
V Station,
Sylenth 1,
Korg Legacy,
Synth 1 (free).
And thats just a few. oh... and a good Piano vsti such as True Piano's or The Grand would come in handy also.
Effects wise, filter plug ins, reverbs, compressors/limiter and delays.

all of them, pretty much. If it has oscillators, filters, and envelopes, it'll be able to do trance And if it won't by itself, it certainly will with mixing multiple instances and different settings or mixing it with another synth all together.
Alchemy ships with a nice arp/gate effect, or buy CamelSpace for use with other synths. Unison on the sound sources (oscillators) will make it sound nicely thick. Lots of nice "trancey stuff" in Alchemy.
