the price for the parts is about 800 euros, more than 10 times the price for the plug-in... not mentioning the wood work

but as they said in [june 2010] future music: no matter how good software synths get, you can't beat a bit of hands-on control

There's quite some work to do before we can even start.

The control logic for the patch cords is quite something, we need to solder a pack of demuxes into some sort of microcontroller device. That's not difficult to do, but it takes time. The microcontroller has to be programmed of course. (Unlike the posted layouts suggest, I've found a solution with daisy-chainable patch cords, so each outlet needs only 1 plug, not 2 or 3.)

Also, ACE needs way higher precision knobs than just the 128 steps of your average MIDI controller. This means that twice the number of standard MIDI Controller kits are needed, to support 14 bit controllers.

Then, ACE needs to be enhanced in various ways, to support 14Bit MIDI controllers and the interface needs to be adjusted to fit the touch screen.

Finally, I'm not quite sure how to handle the pull down menus in ACE. My favourite would be buttons and status LEDs. That however is an *enourmous* amount of extra work and cost. So maybe all pull down menues will have to be accessed over the touch screen.

So the material cost will be way over 1000€ for a single ACE controller, without the computer. (a bare bones system might fit inside so we could do a stand-alone system)

Bottom line, if enough interest is there I'm contemplating to set up a little manufacturing area within the office that I'm looking for. We're however looking at a *very* costy product in a very small series (20-50 pieces a year). But that's nowhere near reality yet. We still need to do our first ACE HW

May I suggest RPN/NRPN messages? The only softsynth I know of today that responds to them is Surge; it'd be nice to have something a little more fine for U-He plugins. ;)

I just cleared my browser cache and those are now gone. Looks like the author didn't want to leave them up for whatever reason. At least there's still my screen cap to look at. ;)

Hmmm, yeah... gone for me too...

With the last update of my page, i've made a mistake on the layout page. I don't notice this.
Today i fix the problem. Sorry for this.
