Hello.
I have a question that is not solved for long time.
I couldn't find 'good' reverb vst(not hardware) for new age solo piano music.
The effect I'm finding is to make sound of solo piano more clean, dreamy and spiritual and so on. It is very hard for me to make sound like this with vst.
Example for this piano sound is such as Meditation(Yuhki Kuramoto), Felitsa(Yanni) and Until the last moment(Yanni)and so on.
Please give me some advice about how to make solo piano sound like this and what vst is suitable to make sound like this.

I'm listening to Felitsa right now but I can't find Until the Last Moment. Which album is that one on?
But... at this point you do in fact have many decent choices on vst. Not all of them are going to give you that "magic" that you're looking for. As soon as you said dreamy and spiritual I thought of Aether. It is one that most definitely will give you that. So +1 for that. If it's in your price range then I suggest trying it out.
I'm pretty sure that on a lot of the original tracks one of the reverbs that Yanni was using was a Lexicon. You can clearly see it in some of the videos. A Lexicon has that certain "magic" that will do what you are asking. But that doesn't mean that you should automatically reach for Lexicon and note that Yanni was using hardware at the time. I don't know about the software version... but for the price of the lexicon soft you could get both Aether (or another vst verb) AND a cheap piano, lol!
So as one possible option I would recommend trying Aether for sure.
Also, be sure that you really are looking for reverb and not just the natural sound of the piano. Those particular songs have other instrumentation and it's possible that that is what you're hearing? Because there is definitely reverb on those parts and it is the kind of reverb you're describing. But the actual piano sound that I'm hearing is pretty clean. Are you maybe thinking of the natural resonance of the piano itself? Because normally one might not necessarily throw a lot of extra reverb on the piano itself when it already has its own natural reverb built in as it were. I hope that makes sense.
I guess I should have asked... are we talking about real piano or virtual piano? In Yanni's case it's obviously real. If it's a virtual piano then your money might be better spent on looking at other library options?

Especially since it's free, you should definitely check out Pianoverb. PSP has a lot of great products.
Note what they say about Pianoverb...
"PSP PianoVerb reproduces a special kind of reverberation originally provided by piano strings. It generates reverberation using twelve string operators with adjustable damping and decay time."
So, it might not be necessary if your piano library has proper facility for sympathetic resonance and it might be just a simple matter of tweaking your library presets. And maybe that's why you have had so much trouble finding a reverb because the answer lies with the library itself.
Using the Yanni songs that you mentioned as an example, I would still recommend Aether for the other instruments in the arrangement. I would check out the demos of that and other reverbs that were recommended. I'm pretty sure I'm 'getting' the kind of sound you're after and some reverbs have the capability of doing it and some don't. I know that Aether definitely can, and check out Redline as well. I have csr as well, and it's good too. Maybe I would place it third in my list after Aether and Redline (I don't know about eos or reverbrate so I can't say).
I don't know that I would recommend convolution (not for this kind of application). I would recommend algo over convolution because you want something organic and alive rather something that basically is just a snapshot. Look for something that has modulation of the tail. I know that there are some convos with modulation but I still wouldn't recommend going that route. If you do get a reverb consider the time and size of your space. To get that "Enya" effect you're going to need to go with settings that are a little more drastic than what you might expect!
You didn't mention what kind of budget you're working with...

Thanks to this thread I've just tired it out on some modelled Electric Pianos.thecontrolcentre wrote:PSP Pianoverb is great, and it's free
It does a really, really good job. Especially the "dark" settings.
Thanks for the tip!!
