If the negative part has a higher amplitude than the positive part it will normalize to -0.0. Just flip the polarity and it will be 0.0.

the first time i tried it i think the wave peak file was never updated for wavelab so after flipping it
anyway i've tried it again and now the file reads -0.0db with the new peak file so thank you!
i'm delighted and embarrassed i don't know what to say.. delighted it's such a simple thing of switching the polarity and not knowing about this before
embarrassed over this thread but i've finally got this solved woo!
the funny thing is after resaving the flipped file it reads -0.0db now and when you try invert it again it will still read -0.0db
it can never reach 0.0db again strange.. but i'll set all my samples to -0.0db now
