hi rob and jon, is there a chance for an alternative non-grafitti gui for the 1.1 update of subboombass? i like sbb a lot and it is my prefered synth for doing those berlin school basslines. that's why i think that a gui that goes into the direction of a classic analog synth (think minimoog) might look quite nice and would be well-suited. it might even attract some people that are not really looking for a hip-hop (whatever) synth. some parts of the gui of the current version already hint into the direction of a classic analog synth, so it might not be too complicated to offer an alternative to the grafitti version.
cheers

At the moment we have no plans for an alternative gui, but it may be something we consider later on.

thanks jon and rob for your answers. in the end it is the sound of your plugins that counts for me (but an alternative gui would nevertheless be nice). keep up the good work and i'm looking forward to the updates of sbb, predator and rp-verb.

Milder gui might attract additional users.

I really like the GUI as it is now. It's something different and the style is really cool.

btw, is it difficult to make synths skinnable ?
I am asking because I see that with some programs like Reaper, peole can make their own skins, but that is a rare possibility with software.
(I have no clue about software programming, so please excuse me if my question is naive).

About the gui, it was designed by our very talented graphics guy Hans, it's not generated on the 'fly' , so it's not really skinable.

My personal previous ones have been "skinable", by I've gone for a more 2d look to it , with lots of the graphics been generated by the plugin itself. For the more 3d look as in SBB , this isn't really that easy.

However it does seem to be an interest thing to look into. Any ideas about what would be good look for a redesigned version ?

The current gui is quite good, If you only let the graffiti drawing away from the background then it would probably be enough change already Very Happy clean and (more) serious.

But you'd better not draw a skull on it instead Laughing

i agree with nielzie that the current gui is quite nice (i would even say very nice). so if hans would just remove the grafitti this would be perfect for me. as i said in my original post the gui reminds me a bit of a modern version of a moog synth and this i like quite a lot. so, please don't change the gui too much, just remove the grafitti for an alternative version.

+1
however I would think that it might be smart to put A skin selection on the Back panel so people who like it can still use it
this will also give you an option to expand the Skins idea in the future

In fact it is ready. We only need to build the installers.
But Jon has holidays, so a matter of time!

So stay tuned,

Rob
