hi guys ...as from the title...

i use battery,geist, and microtonic.

Do you think i have enough for owning decent roland tr 909 sounds?

If the answer is yes, then its ok

Otherwise, if you think the libraries which come with these virtual instruments only contain "processed" and "not-original" tr 909 sounds, could you please indicate to me the best vst software emulation of this mythic drum machine?

both free and commercial

thanx

I have a real one i will sell you for £1500 :D I compared the D16 one, sounds ok but the D16 909 Clap sounds nothing like a TR909 HC there's phasing going on there..

I don't know about Geist but the drum machine samples which come with Battery are horrible.

There are many free 909 samples on the net.
The analog industries samples are the best free ones imo.
Please read the readme too.
It makes clear why ther is a little bit of silence at the beginning of some samples.

Goldbaby offers an awesome 909 library for some money.

If you want a "real" 909 VST wich doesn't use samples and gives you a little bit more freedom and the sequencer of the 909 you should check out D16 Drumazon

I hope this helps :)

Cheers
Dennis

Is Spark replacing your 909, it looks a cool bit of kit?

I'm not buying one(Spark) any time soon, though if one fell out the sky I'd like one...

Nothing can replace the TR909 mate, i have that only for keep sake, same as the Roland MDC-1 rack. Spark is great IMO plenty of good kits and i like the contoller, i only bought that to mess about with but i won't use it on a daily basis. For my drums i just load up battery and stick some of my own samples in there :)

I quite like the D16 TR808, i can't compare that with a real one coz i haven't got one haha.. sounds good though.

hmm, if you're only looking for a VST to get the sounds and don't need a built-in sequencer, perhaps you'd be better off with getting samples.

i've listed some very, very good free TR-909 sample packs here:
http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/09 ... e-samples/

and i would also recommend the full version of HI-FI 909 by ToneBuilder:

This one is nice:

Got 909, 808 and others.

This was my only virtual drum machine before i got NI Komplete 6 (with Battery), Guru and finally Geist.

Anyway those 909 and 808 samples in Geist are not bad too. :)
For those who didn't recognized Geist contains a song mode so you got add different patterns in any way you want and with up to 8 tracks.

A free Tr-808 emulation (without sequencer) is available here:

Get samples! There are a lot of TR libraries also some free samples. Many big libraries have some TR samples too.

For emulated stuff Drumazon is ok but I don't use it anymore. Samples are better, sounding more "stable" and are easier to use. Often they are also "ready to use" you don't need EQ or compress them.

Post

Drumazon is probably the best as far as emulation goes.

But honestly, I would check out "Drumaxx" by Imageline. It's not a TR909 emulator per se, but a TR909 "like" sound is certainly possible. It's one of the best synthesized drum plugins I have ever heard.

Might want to check out "Tattoo" as well.

well on the DVD that comes with the "computer music " magazine the CM-505 is pretty sweet http://www.kvraudio.com/get/594.html

using the search engine of KVR i found these

you could also get "rebirth" its now freeware...it has a TB-303, a TR-808 and a TR-909.
it has sweet sequencers for both the drum and synth, u can use it through "rewire" for Whatever u use as a DAW.
