I wanted to poll the forum and find out how people have been getting beta testers. The people on my team, including myself, have contacted friends and colleagues to try to have them test out our plugins with little to no success. Any advice on how anyone finds reliable testers?

Just put the product out there and label it Beta. A deal on the price during the Beta period is a good incentive too. (And it makes sense in software to reward the early adopters. It's not a supply and demand model, like with physical product.)

What I've done is put some posts on a forum (swedish music geek forum) that I wanted betatesters. All testers who gave at least one tiny response got a license for the help.
It will always turn out that 4 out of 5 only wants a free synth but a few selected have been really helpful wit loads of feedback and followup after updates and so on.
It is well worth giving away a few extra licenses (after all they don't cost you any) to get hold of of thoose helpful minds!

I used to be a beta tester on a DAW, where only the testers who reported a certain number of bugs got the free stuff. I think that may be the way to go. Btw, ping me is you need another tester :)
