Bad loop points eh? I'm not a professional composer, but I am a musician so I'm particular about the sound being playable and enjoyable. Things like bad loops or poorly cut samples drive me crazy. I don't want to spend too much though. I already have Albion I and II for many ensemble instruments, so the solos are definitely important. Tough choice.EdC wrote: Back to KHS I think that Diamond strings are good as well in respect to CS2; they are more coloured and in some situations are very useful. Romantic solo violin, for instance, is very warm and expressive but, like other sections or divisions in diamond (not all), the loop points are bad to my taste; not sure if it's a problem of mine..

If you're buying it only for solos I'd go for CS2.
I like the diamond solos but this problem, even if I think you can edit the loops, is quite noticeable on long notes. Just check with Kirk if it's a known thing or it's just my setup..

Here is something I did with CS2 and CB2 -- an instrumental rejig of She's Leaving Home. It's my first attempt both at using KH instruments and doing any kind of orchestral arrangement, so this might not be the best promotional material...anyway....

Got to fix your link, man. It shows "you/tracks" at the end of the URL and goes nowhere. Excited to hear it, though.lingyai wrote:Here is something I did with CS2 and CB2 -- an instrumental rejig of She's Leaving Home. Sounds good man. I take it those are all solo instruments? The vibrato on the cello(s) does sound a little fake, but overall they sound nice otherwise, and the brass sounds really good. Thanks for posting this!
On a non-KHS note, I just want to throw it out there: I wouldn't add vox if I were you. We have all heard the song with vocals, and this soft instrumental take is actually quite nice. It could use a little touching up as far as dynamics goes, but overall it's really a good take on the song, and I personally think the instrumental version sounds quite awesome. Just my $.02. Thanks again!

The November 2012 issue of Keyboard Magazine has an article on playing technique entitled "The Virtual Orchestra Brass Basics" which features a couple of libraries including Kirk Hunter Concert Brass 2.
It discussed very basic info for a person not familiar with articulations that switch mid phrase. It was nice to see Kirk Hunter Concert Brass 2 used for the example of a more advanced library.

Have these and the other more recent updates mentioned in Sept been posted yet?KirkHunter wrote:TVEC 3 and 4 will be fixed.AKJ wrote:so does this mean that also the TVEC3 versions get fixed or that one has to upgrade to V4 in order to have a working version (which, of course, would be annoying)?KirkHunter wrote:I am totally redoing most of the woodwinds, so a "fix" will be included!Echoes in the Attic wrote:Did this woodwind issue ever get fixed? And is it a problem in TVEC 4 as well?
I have a question about the pattern maker in TVEC 4: Can you play chords rhythmically? Or only arpeggiated notes?
thanks
Yes, you can play chords in patternMaker.
cheers, akj
And if so where are they?
The last update on:
http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/update.html
for TV3 users is from Jan 2012
and for TV4 is March 2012
Thanks...

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Sorry, I didn't see your post until now, hence the late reply. Listening to it again after a few months, I'd say you are spot-on about the vibrato on the cellos. To be honest I know very little about using midi ccs properly; this was only my second attempt. I've since found some resources on midi tips for classical pieces and so hope to put them to good use on a new draft. I also agree with you re the dynamics -- whole thing was done a bit half-assed to be honest; I concentrated on the arremgement, but mixed it hurriedly, when I had ear-fatigue... not a great idea :-/sockofgold wrote:Sounds good man. I'll be getting a 64-bit machine soon, so I can finally handle the KH libraries properly. Yes, those were all solo instruments. My 32 bit machine just can't handle much more -- had to keep stopping and rendering etc. You need some serious RAM to work with these!
