alternative to fl studio

i've recently upgraded from a 3.4ghz cpu with 2gb ram to a 3ghz quadcore with 8gb ram and i'm looking for suggestions on a new daw

fl studio served me well on my old pc but as my production became more advanced i started regularly maxing out the cpu and ram so i had to bounce tracks one at a time and use ESCs vsti converter to turn synths to soundfonts and with all the hassle my output dwindled pretty rapidly and came to a halt

it was not fl's fault obviously but after getting this new pc i still find myself in a bit of a writing block so i'm thinking a new daw may spark something

years back i've tried lmms(pretty buggy), reason (worked well but the interface was a bit hard to navigate), and ableton (worked well for sampling but composing not so much)

i'm running xp 32 bit & windows 7 64 bit

It may look a bit unconventional at first, but it has deeep functionality and a great sound engine. And with the forthcoming MuLab 5 (multi-core support, multi-functional browser, extended drag-drop support, enhanced envelopes, extended MUX power, ...) things are only getting better and better.
