Trying out an alternate method of production. I typically will write / sequence in my DAW. This time I tried writing a track mostly in Maschine. I used it to MIDI control my Gaia and Minitaur. The 303ish sounds are mostly from the Minitaur. One of them is from the Gaia. The pads are from CA Alchemy though (run inside Maschine), and the vocals are myself, courtesy of sonnivox vocalizer. Far from polished, more of a rough draft, but its my first try with something new... I'll probably come back to it in a week or so and EQ/mix it again - work on the arrangement and parts...

This is wicked! Love the wonked out synth work. Messes with my dancing limbs very nicely. Makes me do weird things with my fingers...

Only criticism I can level at this is that I'd like to hear said wonked out synth work a little more monoish. Maybe stereo detail could be provided by automated 'spreading' of the background pads at key points instead. Maybe a few notes on the wonky synth could be chucked into the periphery once in a while as little set-pieces, but I think this would hit so much harder if the focus of the track wasn't flying around from side to side all the time.

Despite this, great work! One of my KvR faves for sure.

Funny you mention that with the fingers. I found my fingers doing strange things as well while listening to it. Geez... that sounds.. Well - I mean it in a totally clean way.

Yes, I will definetly look at the stereo shifting of the sounds when I put redo it. Thanks you very much for the input. So far I think I need to trim some levels on some of the individual synth sounds, program some better drums for it and try to come up with a better structure for it. I dunno, I am still kinda learning how to use Maschine to sequence in...it does not feel very natural to me at this point in time. I may just deconstruct it all and rebuild the whole thing in my DAW...

What a lovely electronic piece... all quirky and choppy... the way things bounce off the kick is indeed limb juggling. Minitaur sounds nice and thick. It's great to shake up your routine and place boundaries as well... can often lead to little gems such as this one. Good stuff Steven!

this is excellent. the synths got my mind going one way then when the kick came in my body went the other - brilliant.
you started it in Maschine so i urge you to finish it in Maschine as it's already taken you down a very interesting route.

This was pleasingly strange and I would describe this as Underwater House music. That intro had me expecting a perverted blues synthfest but then it swam off in an entirely different direction. There was a great collection of sounds on here and the groove was jaunty. Nice character to that vocoder sound.
