I see this is on sale. I have the free version of Amplitube 2. Sounds great but uses way too much RAM on my 32 bit systaem. Does anyone know if Amplitube 3 is as RAM hungry? |

Not on my PC. The latest version offers 3 quality modes (Hi, Mid, Eco). You can try the demo to be sure. ---- "Time makes fools of us all. Our only comfort is that greater shall come after us." Eric Temple Bell http://thetomorrowfile.bandcamp.com/ |

Thanks Mick. Are you running 32 or 64 bit? |

Thanks Mick. Are you running 32 or 64 bit? I first ran 32 but am now running 64. I found that both worked equally well. This is an IK thread, so expect others to chime in and pile on with pitchforks. I kid because i love. ---- "Time makes fools of us all. Our only comfort is that greater shall come after us." Eric Temple Bell http://thetomorrowfile.bandcamp.com/ |

Amplitube 3 was a ram hog but got better with the 3.7 update, I believe.
It used to take over 250mb ram for one instance, but after the update it was pretty well cut in a half. This is on OSX 32 bit system. Haven't tested on 64bit yet. ---- This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 255 character limit. Once I have something clever, I will certainly fill it in. RAM handling is completely revamped since AmpliTube 3.7.1.
With AmpliTube 3.7.1 and up you can expect at least 30% less CPU power consumption, and at least 35% less RAM usage, compared to previous versions. I say "at least" because these are really conservative estimates compared to what most users report. The best thing to do, really, is just go ahead and download AmpliTube Custom Shop and see for yourself - it's FREE.
You'll get all of the gear from AmpliTube 2 Live, and then some. Since you own AmpliTube Live, you are a registered IK user, thus AmpliTube Custom Shop is already waiting for you in your User Area downloads. |

Thanks all for the responses -- please do keep them coming. Brian, the article sounds encouraging, though I am still keen to hear 3rd party field reports. I would download the new free thing, but -- not to sound unduly negative -- as a registered user of a number of IK products, some of which I like a lot, I will say that downloading, installing, activating, registering etc is a big PITA (or at least it was this time last year), which is one reason I'm sort of avoiding it unless the product seems really compelling... |

Since you last visited us, we've made a few changes that I think you will appreciate: a new Authorization Manager included with AmpliTube Custom Shop, and and a revamped website & user area) which makes the whole process a breeze. |

I would go with Guitar Rig from Native Instruments. Get the demo an try it, IMO a completely different league then Amplitube. |

Yeah, you could always go with a more expensive competitor if you want artificial lemons instead of real Oranges.
There is a reason why top brands like Marshall, Fender, Orange, Ampeg, Soldano & Authentic Hendrix, and guitar legends like Slash endorse AmpliTube exclusively. You are simply not going to find highly respected names in the industry as these vouching for anyone else. Sorry, 4damind. |

I appreciate your enthusiasm and get your point -- you like Amplitube. But... let the other classmates speak, pretty please |

Hi Brian, I do like the updates that you guys have done with Amplitude, the CPU demands have indeed lessened! But I have to agree with the previous poster the Custom shop, trading in points etc.... Is so confusing! A few times I've tried and given up making a purchase because the process is so convoluted(not drummer friendly) A couple of times I've tried to apply jam points ,thought I applied them completed the transaction only to find I didn't follow the procedure properly......... It shouldn't be this difficult and IMO many users avoid the Custom Shop because the procedure has so many steps. I've heard others comment the same. I love the product ,I have a bunch of Custom shop items already but I can tell you I'd have a lot more if the process was somewhat simplified. Best, KG ---- MacPro 2.8 Quad(2008)24gig,OSX10.83, DP8.01 RME FF800,Great River ME-1NV,NTK and AT4033 ,NI Komplete8U,Arturia,Spectrasonics,OhmForce,IK + many more Vdrums TD20 expanded,Superior 2 etc,,UAD2,Waves etc...Focal Twin 6 monitors, Shunyata, hard drives galore. |

I've often wished more vendors would follow the example of companies like AAS for making getting up and runnning... Pay with Payapal. Download VSTi. Launch. Enter serial. Make music. |
