Fl studio piano roll problem

Does anyone have any idea why the sound might be cutting out in the middle of a pattern in the piano roll. I've checked the obvious suspects...nothing that should be doing it on automation, volume slider stays where it is. The playlist keeps playing through the rest of the pattern but without sound. In the pattern itself, the cursor disappears at the point where the sound stops (always the same position), but the digital readout continues rolling, reflecting the fact that the playlist is still going through the rest of the pattern.

Is there a note in the piano roll that extends past the end of the pattern/loop?
Sometimes it gets weird when looping on a pattern with notes going beyond the loop...
