I know Lennard personally, in fact I've met him last month at 'Pollerwiesen', a party in Germany, just over the Dutch border. Contrary to popular believe, he really is a nice guy :) He's not really a 'business' type of person and that's obviously the reason he's not handling things commercially very well. When you look at his website, you soon get the impression that Sylenth1 is dead (no updates since 2009 !). I asked him about that, he said that it was quite the contrary, he wouldn't go into details but said that if you'd turn on any popular radio station, there's a chance bigger than 50% you hear Sylenth1 in the song playing. Why he doesn't update his website and make success like this visible to the public is really beyond me. Oh, and of course, I asked him about 64 bits MAC, he said the whole GUI had to be rewritten (again !) for that and that this would cost quite some time but definately was something that was going to happen, but that this wasn't something to be expected in the next few months. Not sure if this is what the haters wanted to hear, but I thought I'd share it here anyway.

good to hear...something. ANYTHING LOL. i love sylenth1, just frustrated to run it in the 32bit bridge in Logic (altho the bridge almost never crashes in mountain lion...for some reason. it crashed a lot in lion).

am holding my breath... :wheee:

[ironic mode on]Yeah, yesterday I met this guy who wanted to sell me a Minimoog for 100 quid. Stupid guy, the thing hasn't been updated since 1973 or so. Fool. And daring to ask so much money for overdue stuff. Wouldn't have taken it if were for free[ironic mode of]
What I mean, if something still works ok and produces good sounds, even it hasn't been update for some time, why not use it. On the other side there a loads of products that get update after update and still are not good.

Is this also what is on the disk that comes with the magazine. CM website gives no information at all, would like to know what's on the disk.

I know it's the de facto stance for most people in forums to be completely and utterly uninterested in even trying to understand the other persons point of view but even cynical me can see that a Minimoog's "OS" isn't be constantly updated, there's no concern over 32/64bit, the DAW doesn't have to be upgraded, there's no concern that if the company goes kaput that authorization's may be unforthcoming or that if you switch DAW the lack of AU/AAX format, for instance, means losing the use of it etc. etc.

I'm not going to stick with 32bit Live simply to run my beloved Warmverb, for instance, and Tone2 have not implemented a single FR in it's lifetime nor given any indication of updating it to 64bit. I'd be very interested, therefore, in a similar piece of software from a company that *does* see maintaining/updating the product as priority and invest my time, energy and money in learning that software and supporting that company.

I'm 99% certain anything with "CM" in the name will be included.

It is a shame Dominator & Genesis are such CPU hogs; I like them but they like my CPU more than me. I've always wondered if they were made by a careless owner of SE or SM.

I don't think you read my post either. I do not own any apple devices to read the digital version. That means i have to wait for the US version to show up in stores. I have to wait until mid september to read the articles and that has nothing to do with KVR news.

He can run his business however he wants. You say he is not handling things commercially very well, but how do you measure that? Sylenth is ranked #2 on this CM list and it is one of the most successful softsynths and has a huge library of soundsets. Seems like he is handling things just fine from a commercial standpoint.

As for the synth itself, it has a few qualities I really like soundwise, but every once in a while I load up the demo again and try it and so far have never purchased. Each time I try it I am less likely to get it cause imo more and more new synths have passed it by...

george wrote:I still don't get Lennard decision. We had to rewrite the GUI for all our Mac products (except Corona) and I don't think we are as popular (=sales) as him.

If he said he lost the source code it would seem more credible.

Maybe his sales are still high as is and so he has little incentive. Maybe when asked he tells people it is still being developed because he does not want to hurt new sales, but really it is a dead product. I don't know or care to spend my time trying to understand the motivations of someone far away who I never meet. No updates in years speaks more than anything else.

If I were to buy Sylenth today, I would do so assuming it will never be updated again.
