Hello -

Given a "low latency" interface such as Zoom TAC-2, Steinberg UR28M, or Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (which each have 2 inputs and 2 outputs). If I run my mixer into this interface, but the computer is NOT attached to it - will the interface still send audio through it's outputs? (therefore, to the monitors?)

If not, which interface am I looking for?

Most, if not all, of the motu interfaces will work as standalone mixers. The latest ones allow you to control the mixer from a web browser, so, theoretically, you could use your phone or tablet to adjust the mixer. The older ones, like the ultralite allow you to painfully control the mixer from the front panel.

The Steinberg/Yamaha UR28m can be used without a computer.

The RME Fireface IS…
I use it as a mixer all the time, it's superb.

Thanks for the input guys.

I'm finally getting out of the dark ages (was plugging my Mackie 1202 headphone jack directly into the built in 1/8" input on the computer..

) I need to have an interface that will pass the sound straight through to the speakers at a moment's notice - just in case I wanna jam and the laptop is not available

I'll check out these sugesstions, and any other ideas are welcome.

Komplete Audio 6 works fine w/out the mac turned on...A&H Zed 22 runs into it.

Is a "low latency" audio interface useful without a computer?
