Can't afford both, so which one should I use? Which one has the best tone overall for guitar use in your view?

Of course, it's a bit comparing an apple to an orange.

- Obviously Guitar rig has more quantity of effects and amps, but I'm more interested in quality than quantiy. The sound quality of Guitar rig is often put in question by users, compared to other similar products.

- To use Speakerphone just for guitar sound (amp and distortion) exclusively may not be its forte. But "as a one-stop shop for producing whatever 'mangled' sound you might want", as SOS puts it, it may be good enough for both guitar use and much more than what Guitar rig can do. And from what I've heard from reviews and user comments, the sound quality of Speakerphone is top notch.

I would love to demo both and compare, but there is unfortunately no demo for Speakerphone.

So what's your point of view on this?

I have GR5Pro and love it! I've been using it for years. It certainly stands above the others when it comes to ease of use, insane control, and freaky sounds... you can really dial up what you want very quickly too. I've used and own almost all major amp sims. They each seem to have their own forte. I love the UI of GR5Pro. I think it's the best. Very intuitive and easy to use... toss the manual if you like. Speakerphone looks very pricey too

Speakerphone's great for clean (ish), bluesy and all kinds of mildly overdriven tones. This is where other amp sims I've used often lack. It seems to have a great dynamic range as well - it feels like the equivalent of playing a VI piano lots of velocity layers.

Also if you like to put your amp in a space with other instruments (as if recorded together as part of a live session) then SP also works great for this.

I find SP the most satisfying guitar sim to use, although I also use AT as well.

I'll add another vote for Amplitube smokes both of them for traditional guitar amp tone, but I'd throw in S-Gear to the mix as well.

My advice would be to buy Speakerphone for it's crazy "cabs" and effects but it's something I use with an amp sim, not as one.

Buy a few Amplitube amps, pedals and cabs that you like from the custom shop and wait for someone to sell you Guitar Rig Pro super cheap for it's ability to do interesting routing and special effects if you feel you need something "extra."

I went through the hassle of finding the right ampsim for recording others in the studio.
Demoed everything I could find. Guitar rig is best for me.

And yet neither Audio Ease or Native Instruments rush in with some cool "meme" gifs to hail everyone who mentions their products.

Maybe because they don't have to?
