Using Reaper as a Live Looper?

Is there a way to use the Take Lanes in Reaper as a Looper type device? or another way to do this in Reaper?

I would guess if I can just have the audio from all the takes play as I loop record on one track instead of auto muting them as I go this would work. cant find a option for it yet.

Tried to do this with audio in Live and cannot figure out how to do this with audio. I can use looper but I end up with one track full of overdubs or just one track and cannot separate each take.

any other daws that do this well?

Thank you! if it allows me to loop record on one track and not Mute all the "take lanes" then its golden. so I can loop record takes and have each take play as I go. this looks like it may do the same type of thing. will check it out :)

what I am looking for is a way to record take lanes on one track and every take it "plays" all the previous takes while I keep layering.

this works!

"I'm not at my audio computer at the moment, but i believe there is an option in Prefs/ Audio / Loop Recording to add recorded media @ each loop that should do what you want to do. There is also the option to "monitor media while recording" when you right-click on the track record button. "

Thanks Billy!

nevermind.. it only works sometimes... ugh. really?? wtf

Reaper seems quirky as Hell with this stuff.. cant find another daw that allows you to do this though..

Edit

FL does it good. no multiple time sigs though.

edit. not sure why it creates a new channel clip every time.. every daw sucks.

Old thread but interesting. I've been looking for a similar feature and it seems all DAW's mute takes rather than allowing you to hear the previous one and build up a looper type comp. The only solution I have found is DP8 called Polar :

Yeah, this is brilliant. seems like such a standard feature..

Yes I agree . I'm almost considering getting DP8 just for this alone.

Actually you're right it can be done in FLStudio. I may experiment in there as I have full license.
