Spooky greetings to all.

Its been a fairly quiet week, which I hope is because you guys cannot find any more bugs in the TX16Wx. Betting on this, this (scary) version is considered a Release Candidate, i.e unless I get any reports on show stopper bugs, this is the version that will be 2.0 final, which will in turn be released next weekend.

Changes (2012-11-02):
  • Fixed toggling of path as "favourite" in file browser
  • Added memory usage info
  • Pitch detect now returns "no pitch" on failure
As always, download this from http://www.tx16wx.com/

Of course, I know there are a plethora of features people want added to the instrument, and 2.0 final does not mean that development or new features end. It simply means that the plug in is now stable enough for daily use. So keep the requests coming.

My next priority will be to give you the first release of the TX16Wx Professional. There will be preview drops for this as well, as features are added. If you haven't per-ordered your copy yet, why not take this opportunity to buy something nice for Halloween, and support your local VST sampler developer. :D

Nice one. Looking forward to the first Pro version. :)

Awesome job. Great new developer and a very useful sampler. Looking forward to buying the pro version as soon as my paycheck arrives.

EDIT. Well, new "pro" developer.

I'm trying the RC version with various Soundfonts, and the "Brass section" patch of Bellatrix Orchestra Soundfont sounds weird, like there's a bass note when it shouldn't. The same soundfont file and patch doesn't have the problem when loaded in Cakewalk SFZ free plugin.

EDIT: for example the D4 note has that bass underlying sound which isn't right.

Also, I loaded the "String and brass" patch in first channel slot, set MIDI channel as "Omni", played a few notes and tried to duplicate the channel slot. Instant REAPER crash, two in a row.

I understand this could be due to huge memory usage though (the Bellatrix Soundfont is a 400MB+ Soundfont, and just loading it in an empty project makes REAPER process go to more than 800MB memory usage).

REAPER x86 latest prerelease on Windows 7 Pro x64.

No, you found a legitimate bug. Fixed in next version. Workaround until then; don't set the MIDI channel to omni. ;-)
Thanks for the report.

Cool! If you go on with this level of support I'm already seeing my 20 Euros for non business pro license getting their way to you by themselves :)

I was playing around with the sampler and set up some drumkits. Love it so far! Wish there was a round robin function though... Am I right it's planned for the pro version?

Yes, there will be both round-robin and random switching as well as modulation controlled wave selection for triggering.

The conversion is not 100%, but it should not create "extra" sounds. Can you provide me with the SF2 in question so I can investigate? Or point me to where I can get it.

I'm getting an "Address out of bounds" error message (no more details) when I re-open a project saved with rc1 in it.

And two one-off (not reproducible so far) issues:
-- could not delete a Group
-- MIDI export generated notes with lengths of 0 (actually shown as -1 in energyXT, but I think its calc is one adrift)

Also, I had 2 sliced grooves, both mapped to the keyboard in different slots (a Performance saved from beta 16):
-- MIDI export was OK for the first one
-- for the second one, there were no Note Offs and the channel number (03) was not used, they were on channel 01

That error message indicates something broken with a RIFF structure somewhere, either in DAW chunk or a WAV. Does this happen always, or a specific project?
Can you provide me with the sound files / bank / DAW file?

For the latter, was something very off with the tempo in the sliced wave? The MIDI export is dependant on a proper tempo, so if that number is 0 or other bad value, the result will be broken. I should add some warnings.

Does this reproduce? If so, any special about the material/slices/tempo etc?
Cheers

The sound font in question has broken sample link information (of course), making the resulting waves in the bank messed up. Another case where one has to compensate for broken source material when loading SF2. Gah. I'll see if I can fix it without breaking stuff, but I surely wish sound font editors had at least tried to use the format specification and restrictions when writing their junk... :-P

Happens in energyXT v1 with only an empty TX16Wx loaded. It's OK in other hosts.

It was shown as 170.1 which was correct.

Nothing special - in fact is was the same wav loop with different slice points. But I've done further research
-- I loaded two different loops and sliced them and laid out the slices
-- whichever one I dragged first into the host was OK
-- whichever one I dragged second into the host was not correct (this shows up as no Note Offs in Reaper, and Note lengths of -1 in energyXT v1 and XT2)

So it happens when I try to export a second MIDI clip.

About the MIDI file thing. Its because I made a boo-boo when I fixed the midi channel thing in export (as per your request ;-) ) There's a mismatch between Note on and note off. Bwahahahaha.

I'll try to repro the energyXT thing.
