Saw the Bitwig vid. Looks like it's going to be pretty cool.
But I'd like more info on the FX and instruments. Hope they bring out another vid for them.

I would hope to be able to choose various colors on
the knobs parameter value indicator. The monolithic orange
would get old with a lot of similar sized plugins
open in one area. Assigning colors would lessen the
deer-in-headlights moments.
Or dinosaur-in-headlights, as the case may be...

Thanks glokraw ... I think I've done all that before and then Reaper froze up and the swear words began . ...... I've actually slacked off on my reinstall Ubuntu 6 month ritual . I might have another go at one day .. But ainy nobody got time for that .glokraw wrote:Even windows users must choose a soundcard, default devices, asio drivers, vst folder, path to executables, download destinations, Mac super users mightdeastman wrote:

Lol! I wouldn't say that's a fair comparison thoogh, because Bitwig Studio has instruments. The Mantra wrote:This is the price I expected.
The price is reasonable considering the general cost of DAWs.
I suspect they are pricing with the future in mind. Once the modular system is added (if the price stays the same) this will be very competitive against Live + M4L.
Live standard ($449 usd) + M4L ($199 usd) = $648
Bitwig 2.0 with modular system included = $399
M4L is the reason I cant switch to Bitwig (yet) but M4L is also the main reason I have crashes in Live .
Tell you what, there's just one thing I miss from Live. Watching the spinning beachball on Mac go round and round. Oh how I used to love to while away lazy afternoons watching my beach ball.
Not seen it once since I started using Bitwig.

Why do you say it's nearer to Live? It contains a multisampler, two great synths, an organ and five drum synths. Plus samples etc. That's more or less Live Suite, only without MfL. I never really use MfL much anyway. I mainly used it for the skin editor, as I hate Live's skins, but Bitwig's is really nice and quite easy to see (my eyes are not good).robojam wrote:That's probably not the best comparison though as it's nearer to Live Standard in terms of features, so it's $399 compared to $449, so $50 cheaper.kennyda wrote:The price is 299 euros, ie $399, ie half the price of Live 9 Studio.
I think they're taking a risk with that price in terms of bringing people over from Live, as that's not a significant saving, and it's close to Live users having to buy over rather than upgrade. For existing Live users $399 is $240 more than the current upgrade price of $159. That's going to be a hard sell to those who have put their money into Live.
We'll see though - they may be able to limp through weak initial sales if word of mouth increases them over time.

No, but I don't think you really need them in Bitwig. What it does is cleverly remove a lot of the breakpoints, and draw diagonals for you. In Live you are left with a horrible stepped thing, unless you turn the grid off. Even then it's stepped, you just have more points, which can be a huge pain in itself.aMUSEd wrote:Does it have automation curves yet?
Bitwig Studio sees to automatically turn the gid off, make decisions where to best put some breakpoints, and then turn it back on. I reckon for most people, in most scenarios, it's good enough how it gets done for you. Of course you can add some more to smooth out the odd bit.
Maybe they will add curves eventually though.

I must say, it's quite a good price for what you get. All those instruments and a great suite of effects for cheaper than Live Standard. That's about as good as can be reasonably expected.

Yeayy! My number one feature request.pdxindy wrote: audio clip is a container for multiple bits of audio
However putting a separate loops player into the arrangement view is pretty megatastic too!

I think Logic has all and the price is $200.kennyda wrote: Why do you say it's nearer to Live? It contains a multisampler, two great synths, an organ and five drum synths.
