We all get that it is very small, but the thing is that it comes across as more of a toy than an actual tool. You know it does'nt sound very good when people can get better things for less. Kudos that you made it so small, but i don't think it sounds anything like you market it as.janostman wrote:You don't get it, do you?
The entire synth is smaller than a dime.
There is no kit, put together 4 parts?
Great kit.
Heck, those I sold wont even need a circuit board.
Me to loves knobs and switches but what to do when people don't?
The smallest synthesizer in the world. Ever?

Thanks for your thoughts.
I can say this, It does sound better than my clips.
The clips are not at my best so you have +1 on those.
But those 30 people that paid for it will have a great sounding synth in their mail

It's $30 - I'm not expecting the world, just something fun to play with. I plan to plug it into my Novation, assign some knobs and not worry about hooking up the keyboard to a computer.
I'm excited to get mine - when will they be shipped out?

I think to be fair, you have think about what other hardware synth you can get for $30.
A Stylophone, some arduino or (worse) 555 based noise maker kit, maybe a 2nd hand Monotron if you're lucky? None of them up to making the sounds Jans synth does.
For synthy fun away from your computer I think it's a pretty good deal.

For those who missed it, I have reopened orders for the dsp-Gplug at http://igg.me/at/dsp-w1
I actually bought 1000 Alps pots because I thought people liked synths with knobs?
How wrong I was.
What sold the best was a synth entirely without knobs

Uggh. Where do you find those people that like synths without knobs?janostman wrote:For those who missed it, I have reopened orders for the dsp-Gplug at http://igg.me/at/dsp-w1

Look what is selling like hot cakes the last few years - MS20 Mini, MiniBrute, BassStation II, Sub Phatty, all the various modulars that are more abundant, Leipzig, Boomstars, etc.
People like synths with knobs again (although maybe they always have).
All the recreations of knobby classics in software.
I do notice the word "mini" a lot, so you've got that one going for sure, but I think knobs and sliders are still a big deal. I love my Venom synth and blofeld, but matrices suck compared to lots of knobs, buttons, sliders. Menu diving can be a chore sometimes. Dependence on a PC is not that great either in my opinion.
This looks like it would be cool if you could further develop it to work via midi and a mobile app. Phone or tablet editor, but takes no CPU power from mobile device other than lightweight editor. Room for 128 presets. Lots of software knobs only. Edit away, then plug into your controller keyboard with some knobs and instant portable subtractive synth dongle.
Not sure how much it would catch on with all the other software mobile music creation apps around for less than $30, but I can imagine someone would like something like this as an ultra portable alongside a mini drum machine like the Volca series.
Good luck to you on this project!
