No timeline, no dates, no plan. :)
Actually, it is what I wanted to read. With such a broad initiative,
in such untested waters, a rigid structure would be folly.
Do what makes the U-he company better.

As a future option, you might even consider customizing a barebone linux,
made to order for u-he products, and sell it as a komplete style bundle around $500,
with a light version for TyrellN6, Zebralette, ZebraCM, Triplecheese, and Podolski,
for $50-$100. These could ship as bootable distros, at various pricepoints,
via cd/dvd, usbstick, ssd, free from most of the tyrranies imposed
by the corporate moguls. 8)

We have all the plugins building and running on Linux. Yet there are still some minors issues, that I'm fixing the evening :).
I'll ask Urs if we can go in beta with the other plugins.

Fingers crossed :)
Game changing stuff!

Cool! I hope I'm not dreaming. :o
It's working here on Ubuntu 14.04 in Tracktion 5.3.9 and Renoise 3. :tu:

Overall it seems working and stable. However, the save button seems not to work. (Ubuntu 14.04 with Bitwig).

Yes I'm implementing save ;-)

O-M-G. Unreal. I built my own controller + thin-mini-itx, for the primary purpose of playing Diva and Bazille. Ubuntu studio would have been my top choice for OS's followed by a distant second hackintosh. Until now, it's been a hackintosh... which surprise, surprise, is still an unstable daw.

Today, after getting depressed over my options, and after a desperate prayer, I googled "u-he" linux... wow. seriously. wow. very very very happy... :tu:

Hi quixotic,
How does you controller looks like?

Post

You asked for it :D

Image
This is probably the best photo I have of it. It's built around midibox's awesome open source platform. It's made out of ~3mm aircraft aluminum which is scored and bent to form the top, front, back, and the bit that's visible underneath the keys. The sides (and opposite the edges of the keys) are made out of purple heart hardwood, and the joystick knob is amber. Long life encoders and pots with aluminum knobs. Top row encoders have LED rings, and the bottom row of buttons have dedicated LED's. Ribbon controller between the keys and buttons, and on the back, 16 1/4" jacks (12 balanced) for expansion (foot controllers, or audio IO)

The back right of the casing houses a GA-H87TN thin mini itx board with an i7 4790S chip, 256GB SSD, and 16GB memory.

Clever endcheeks :-)

So how do you know where is which parameter? Looks like a bitch to memorize what's where without scribble strips :)

Post

That's probably where this sort of high-tech gadgetry comes in handy... :D

Crazy controller!!!! It must be totally awesome to play with a controller built by yourself :D

It would seem my system is running some unsupported library versions, and as such, even after patching the latest build of the installer to get it to run... Bitwig still doesn't load the plugin. Here's the error (similar to what was posted by another user earlier on in this thread):

I ran

Code: Select all

$HOME/.u-he/Podolski/dialog menu entry1 entry2

and received the following:

Code: Select all

/home/keito/.u-he/Podolski/dialog: symbol lookup error: /home/keito/.u-he/Podolski/dialog: undefined symbol: gtk_widget_is_visible

I'm running elementaryOS Luna, which is based on Ubuntu 12.04, and uses pretty much the same software versions as Ubuntu 12.04 too.

With the proposed/incoming statically-linked release, will I be able to run this plugin, or will I need to upgrade my distro (or required libraries - if possible) to get this to run?

Post

Hi virusav,

Can you tell me which version of the glibc and gtk3 do you have? For gtk_widget_is_visible, you need at least gtk+-3.8.
Meanwhile, if you can upgrade those packages it might fix the bug.

Thanks for reporting!
