We all know dropbox etc, but they don't give much space away without hassle...
So been looking into other sites where you can get more space for free
iDrive 5GB
iCloud 5GB
Amazon Cloud Drive 5GB
Copy: 15GB
Google Drive: 15GB
OneDrive: 15GB
Phatdock: 29GB
Can anyone recommend any of these or any I may have missed please?
Obviously Phatdock is the most generous in that list, but I don't see how they can give that much away for free especially as judging by their twitter they seem pretty new? Anyone used them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Dang what are you storing? I'd use a USB flashdrive.

You asked how its possible? Because its cheap. To store 1gb on a server costs less than a dollar or even 10 cents per year I heard. Add advertising income and you have a profitable business model.

I'd rather go with a well established cloud storage. You don't want to find one day that the one you are using went bankrupt taking offline all your data. But for those who are interest here's more:
Firedrive 20 Gb
MEGA 50 Gb
Adrive 50 Gb
I'm pretty sure you won't find more than 50 Gb for now.

Wonder whether my advice worth a penny? Check my music at Soundcloud and decide for yourself.

Thanks for the reply guys!
I'm not sure I really trust MEGA, what with Kim.com etc
Adrive looks good, but it seams you still have to sign up with your credit card to even get the free space
Think I'm going to give that phatdock a go as they only need an email address to sign up... will let you know how it goes

Just signed up for Phatdock myself. Seems you get 50GB now. But ... where is it? I'm a little dubious that its all a cunning way of getting people to give their email addresses, unless someoes else is actually using the storage?

From the ones you've listed, i would probably tend to OneDrive. Microsoft's stuff is actually quite free of hassle. I recently signed up for an Outlook account, and the web interface of their services is very clear, and self explanatory. With Google Drive for example, i'd suspect them to automatically search through your stuff to personalize your ads. Google's services are ok for most things, i can understand they offer their services for an exchange, and that's personalizing your ads, but i wouldn't really want to use their cloud service.

Onedrive only has up to 5GB storage, not 15.
Although would rather use Microsoft option as someone else said, who wants to risk backing stuff up to a fly by night cloud outfit, and risk losing it all when they crash.

I can recommend Copy.com as that is what I'm using in addition to dropbox and onedrive.
Copy.com is a product created by the storage company Barracuda. Barracuda has been around a long time, so I trust them not to disappear overnight. They had very generous referral bonuses when I started using them last spring, so you could easily increase your free storage to something usable. Of course you can pay them for more storage too.
I'm not sure this will work today, but when I started using them I saw a gig at fiverr.com, where someone offered to increase my storage to 500GB for a $5. It worked very well, so I have about 650GB free storage right now.
For pure backup, take a look at www.crashplan.com . For a modest fee (from $4/month) they will let you backup a single computer to their cloud storage. No limit on the amount of data. They also have what they call a "family subscription", which costs more but allows up to 10 PC's to do backups.
I have friends using them, and I will soon too.

Onedrive is seriously buggy though - it couldn't even manage to backup my USB key because some filenames or paths were too long for it - on Mac the sync app crashes if it comes across a long filename or path and you need to relog in and set it up again from scratch each time it does (plus it doesn't even tell you what the offending files are). Box on the other hand managed this effortlessly.BoyWonder wrote:Onedrive only has up to 5GB storage, not 15.

I went with Copy.com (in addition to my Dropbox account) for the same reasons. Very happy with the service so far.MrFurious wrote:I can recommend Copy.com as that is what I'm using in addition to dropbox and onedrive.

Using the link from Macupdate.com gives you a 5GB signup bonus, so you've got 20GB right off the bat:
