I have been messing with the api of soundcloud and managed to upload a track to my account.

But i wonder, what the deal with public and private setting...
Can i set it to private so that no one can access it but still embed in my website???

Yes. I've done it. Not sure if someone else can copy the code off your site though.

AFAIK the track is only "hidden" because the URL is unknown to other people.

Anyone with the URL can listen, so yes embedding the private URL should work.

Are you sure about that? Cos i am trying to embed a private track this way:

<audio src=http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/###### ... client_id=####" preload="auto"></audio>

with a track set to public it works
changing it to private it returns a 404 (that is what you see when pasting the url directly into the browser)
