Excellent expressive solo performance as always, Max. And I like how you place the LinnStrument front and center, both sonically and visually, so it's easy for people to clearly see and hear what you're playing and how you're playing it.

I've never asked you about your use of the 5ths tuning. What are the advantages you perceive? Given the other forum discussions about different row offsets, I think others would enjoy your thoughts on this.

I also enjoyed the video with your AI visuals that you link to from this video's comments section. You created some fascinating images with a beautiful organic and surreal quality that I appreciate.

One of the first pieces I tried to play when I got the LinnStrument was a bach violin partita, which quickly turned out to be way too ambitious (though i did get back to it many years later), but being written for violin it was much easier to play with fifths. I found that that I liked it, so I stuck with it. I think generally it makes it sound more violinish, probably because chords and arpeggios rely more on 5ths and 6ths rather than 3rds and 4ths. These wider intervals give it a more open sound.

5ths are great for the single parts I tend to play, using both hands for the melody. If I were trying to do chords with the left hand and melodies with the right, i would probably switch to fourths so there would be less stretching for a single hand.

The fifth tuning will give you also one octave more range…
I tried it as well, coming from a violin background, but ended up inbetween…; - )

"Falling Objects Ahead" is a demo for Orange Tree Samples' Evolution 10 String Stick. They sent me a copy to make the video. This was a strange but very positive experience for me because most of my live performance these days is on an actual Chapman Stick. The library sounds authentic. I had to play around with velocity (I used the lowest setting on LinnStrument) and I also set up some velocity level triggers. The "legato mode" let me slide the melody side independently of the bass side. At some point I want to set up separate processing for the bass and treble sides and play around with multiple instances and MPE.

Hi all ! I'm starting a new series of improvised live-looping soundscapes videos called "Synaesthetic Explorations", which will feature my Linnstrument a lot.

The 1st one, done with the SOMA Cosmos and Glou-Glou Loupé, is already available here:

The idea of this series is to experiment with and try out different ways of adding FXs to live performances to, hopefully, end up offering an experience that is as close as possible to attending a live gig.
The 1st videos will be very basic and raw (because I'm starting with very basic gear and knowledge about video making), but they will improve with time.

I'll be releasing 1 video per week, every Sunday but will post only the videos with the Linnstrument.
I've been owning mine for 5 years and used it a lot but it's the 1st time I make video with it.
What I do is not about virtuosity at all, still the Linnstrument plays a crucial role by allowing me to access subtleties a standard keyboard wouldn't. Also because I have disabilities in my hands, and it is way easier to play for me than a keyboard.
