Saturator plugin recommendation?

I'm looking for a quality saturator plugin. Currently using Ableton's stock Saturator and SSL's X-Saturator. I love X-Saturator for bringing out harmonics without adding nasty clipping/distortion, great for making things loud.

Now I want to grab another saturator plugin, mainly for processing bass. I could achieve great results with what I have, but something that could focus on bass enhancement without heavily taxing CPU will be ideal.

Thinking of buying Vertigo VSM-3 as it has more controls and seems that the owners of the plugin are generally very satisfied. I've tried Decapitator in the past, not particularlly fan of it. Saturn is another great plugin. Had a lot of fun demoing it.

Is there anything else to look out for? I don't have UAD. Any Native saturator plugin recommendation is highly appreciated.

This: http://www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/dyn ... _mixbass2/

Theres a 14 day full functional free trial demo.

It's part of a bundle so maybe not what you are looking for, but they are
all great plugins.

Or here: http://sonimus.com

I use satson on every song - every track.
Sound C loud
Band C amp
Clicks and pops is all I get

Most often used here: Soundtoys Decapitator (in the beginning I also wasn't using it, at all... and now I use it very often, instead of compression and EQ, fast and great sounding)
2nd most often used: Fabfilter Saturn (more possibilities or very creative usage)
Then: Klanghelm SDRR (just very good sounding)

Fabfilter Satin I don't usually use on a per-channel basis, but during mastering. I think it's not what you're looking for.

+ 1

PSP Mixpack as a whole is really great. I use Mixbass for synth basses and Mixsaturator (often together with Mixpressor) for other synth channels. Besides these I also own Satin, TB Reelbus and SDRR, but I use the PSP plugins much more often.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

I have both, SSL X-Saturator and PSP Mixpack2 (incl Mixbass2).
(Also Decapi, but take it aside for now and focus on PSP and Duende).

You gave a good picture of X-Saturator and I agree, it can be used in combination of others.

While Mixpack2 often seems to be considered as an "old hat"
and generates frequent sales on marketplace (dirty cheap to your advantage),
I would say it has a great value, is low on cpu
and the components are well thought-out in terms of having them working all together.
Also completes X-Saturator nicely.

Out of curiosity, TheoM or others,
whats your experience with LSR audio as a company,
the TUBEnhance and do they have sales now and then ?
(Hello Black Friday ... )

From the corner of the eye I saw them involved into the Lindell native products
which is quite a kind of reference.

Here's a cheap, but very high quality alternative:

Although, once you get a taste for Klanghelm, you end up buying all the products in the shop... so beware ;)

While looking for the best commercial option, grab also the free version of Audio Assault HeadCrusher. It's good.

u-he Satin
FabFilter Saturn
Klanghelm SDRR

Amazing trio of plugins w/ little overlap but TONS of useful colors

NI Supercharger has proved fairly useful...waiting on my serial # for the GT version. That may get added to the list above.

Love x-saturator but they never fixed the AU bug (clicking sound at when transport starts)...

bx_sat v2 does a good imitation though between drive1-3 if you don't drive it too hard (still quite diff but similar effects to my ear, ymmv)

My recommendations.

Studio Devil has http://www.studiodevil.com/products/vir ... be_preamp/ which can sound pretty awesome. It's a virtual model of tube amp circuitry which makes it react more like a real tube. It's a bit pricy considering you only get one algorithm and 6 knobs but the realism of the algorithm makes it pretty amazing.

U-he Satin http://www.u-he.com/cms/satin is an excellent Tape Machine Saturator and can do all kinds of great studio tape saturation. Again it's pricey but if you want quality you can't go wrong here.

Fxpansion Maul https://www.fxpansion.com/products/maul/ has a selection of DCAM modelled saturation algorithms that sound pretty good for beefing up the low end. The cheapest and best value of the stuff i've recommended so far. Definitely worth checking out.

Cytomic The Drop http://www.cytomic.com/drop can saturate stuff really well, and if you want bass you can get incredible amounts when you dial it in with the drop. The saturation types vary with the type of filter you select, so you get a few different ones. On top of it all you also get incredible sounding (Probably the best out there) HP, BP and LPF filters.

D16 Redopter and Devastor2 are also both good cheaper solutions for dialing in a bit of analog grit. http://d16.pl/redoptor & http://d16.pl/devastor2

Really that's about all i can think of, I like to keep it fairly simple. All of those could probably do all i could ask for in software.
