A guy in Sweden sells a Roland Jupiter 8 for... € 7.900 ( $ 8.950 ) !

That's what I would call a nice try ! lol

what... too cheap? too much?
On eBay there's a japanese one going for just below $10.000 I think.
Market prices are whatever a fool is prepared to give for it...

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I've seen loads advertised for $10k.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I think advertising and actually selling at that price is not the same thing ;)

Ok fair point.
Though one assumes when something is listed and not relisted it's sold ;)

The last car i bought new cost only thousand more. ;) It's really beyond me how you can shell out that amount for a fairly limited instrument... but, hey, fair enough if it is worth that for you, it would never be for me.

What is it that makes the Jupiter 8 being listed at $9300

While the JX-8P is at €400

Supply and demand, i guess.

Post

That's what they can and do sell for.

I think it is a case of buying as a storage investment (Jup-8) and actually buying to use as a synth (JX-8P)

Post

I would rather guess the Jupiter-8 is a whole lot more popular, and well known, than the JX-8P. Maybe more rare these days too.

+1 The Hipster factor, probably puts $5000 on top of what it should have sold for.

It is weird to think about how much flak received and downgraded Howard Jones has been, sort of the most uncool mullet artist of the early 80's, and who was one of the most well known users of that synth except him

Greed. Both prices are too much, but some ppl will pay anything. Good luck to the sellers i say. Im sure with that cash they can buy some decent stuff.

I think it's a bubble. Question is when it'll crack.

Post

If it had wood panels, probably would have sold for $15000 :D
