Moin,

Im starting to make a new (sub)genre. 3/4Chillhop tracks are characterized by waltz time (three-quarters, 3/4) and sounding relaxing. It sounds rather unfamiliar to "normal" listeners' ears. Let's also be disruptive and break musical rules of any kind.

There is this non-commercial channel on soundcloud.com featuring songs of this genre:
https://soundcloud.com/34chillhop

I've created it to share people's songs - following this less strict genre. Currently it only features music from my personal channel (FARFETT). It will feature yours as well, if you just leave me private message or comment on this topic.
Everyone is cordially invited to attend the 3/4Chillhop Winter Party. No dresscode :)

If you want to discuss ideas, need help with making such songs, then just ask and comment.

Viel Spaß

Free mixing material

A lot of music from the 30s should be public domain (material which you can even use commercially without asking anyone). I've found jazz tunes and waltz tunes using keywords like
  • free public domain
    wav
    waltz
    20s
    30s

Examples I've found

This is public domain (still check license yourself):
http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Maude ... tzing_Doll
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Th ... (1878).ogg
https://archive.org/details/78rpm
https://archive.org/details/MelodyWaltz ... Collection
https://archive.org/details/Free_20s_Jazz_Collection (not 3/4)

Some of these are public domain (check license for each piece yourself):
https://musopen.org/music/search/?q=waltz (5 free 128kbit/s songs after free registration, neither checks mail or other registration data. Good for bitcrushing if you don't mind audio quality)

Conclusion:
This genre has the advantage of having lots of freely available mixing material from olden times.
