There's something to be said about building a community as well, where people can contribute and feel important and mabey come up with some great presets that can be included in future releases.
And, somebody probably already said this, but you should try to push it to the Kvr One Synth Challenge, you'll get some great demo songs to link to right there, I already sent a suggestion to bjporter.

Beware, too low can also be an error. Because a majority of people in the world think that a thing which is at a very low price is necessarily something of humdrum quality.

I would state a price below $50, yes... but also above $25. And everywhere in the life the ideal path is the middle path. So it is probable that psychologically the best price is just halfway between $25 and $50. Conclusion: to get the maximum of customers for Fathom the best price would probably be $35 or $39. It assures a great number of customers because not expensive and in the same time it assures the customer that he has bought a really valuable synth from a developer who invests the money in "professional" developments rather than just in a hobbyist activity.

Excellent update Everett, will check it out soon!

I bought Fathom for 35 dollars, the normal price stated on the site. I didn't use the offer posted here a while ago.
The potential this synth has made it a no brainer for me at that price point.

Agree with BlackWinny, somewhere between 35 - 40 dollars is fine ( I would have paid 50 or 60 as well for this btw ).

Idea: I would also pay for a VSTfx version, with just filters and effects + the mod options.

My thoughts exactly. A very talented group indeed.

Agreed on the one synth challenge, good way to promote this and get lots of fun demotracks.

Featurerequest:
More room to place components, am running out of space.. :P
So, it would be nice to be able to collapse the components / mod matrix and parameter window (below).

RG Thanks for your comment.

Thanks all so much for responding, bungle, ScottAxxe, ErikH, d34dmeat, RPH,
Scrubbing Monkeys, to this market analysis. Your reports contribute immensely
to find the right price point.

Aloysius, BlackWinny, thanks for your thoughts. Any advice from experienced users
really helps me control the ultimate direction of development.

Yes, in the future I plan on making the side panels collapsible.

I think it is in one of the early emails you should have received right after purchase.
I store mine in my PM box so I don't have to look through email to get it.

You should have it in the email you received when you purchased.. If not, contact to Mr. Fathom :tu:

There is another option for pricing. You could price it at about $4,000. Then the same group of (gullible) people who buy magical speaker cables for $20,000 would beat a path to your VST. And you don't need many customers at that price! :-)

Or I could add a sampler, deeply sample my 1971 vintage Baldwin piano from six different mic positions,
and 16 different velocity levels, put all the multi-samples in the synth and sell it for 55.00 instead of 25.00.

On a more serious note, I had some free time today so I wrote a complete user's manual for Fathom.
I need to proof read it tomorrow and then I'll release it in the evening on the web site,
subsequently it will be included in the releases.

Thanks for taking the time to write the user manual. That will be welcomed by all I'm sure.

My pleasure!

The user's guide is now complete and is available on the website.
