The lead synth in this is Zebra, the rhythym section is WusikStation, with some ambience and pluk from ancient 32 bit plugins which shall not be named.

I put 2 songs in my music website: "Looking Forward" (has Hive 2, a non u-he synth, and lots of Presswerk compression) is the song on top, and "Welcome to Planet Progression" (has ZebraHZ and some non u-he synths) is the next song down. Please tell me how you like the music, and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor. Here is my link:

When the drums kicked in with Looking Forward, I had to stop and go listen to 'Lily Was Here' (Dave Stewart-Candy Dulfer) I always enjoy that song's intro. The mix seems real tight when there are several parts at once, in different ranges. The highs of the rhythm guitar and keys don't get lost, and the drums are strong with good timing, and almost musical in the blend. I like how the keyboard parts emerge from under the band later in the song, and then give a space for solo's. A lot of action in a short amount of time.

I like the varied parts in the intro to Planet progression, each one arriving on time, moving from ethnic to electronic, and something like a bass harpsichord? Never a dull moment. The synth vocals are a nice extra. Purely for sonic candy's sake, closing the song with a reprise of the intro, with a solo or two on top, would be quite rewarding, too cool to hear it only once :hyper:

Hope you had a good holiday, or at least made some extra money for the next one! 8)

glokraw,
Thank you for the kind reviews, I appreciate it! Nice to be compared with Dave Stewart & Candy Dulfer; never seen that "Lily Was Here" video before, that I recall. I have heard that song before, but didn't recall Dave Stewart was involved with that song (I am a fan of the Eurythmics). OK, now I am listening to your "Samba In Haitian Skies": this sounds rather different than the style of music I have heard you do in the past. And it sounds really good! If I didn't know better, I might think that lead synth was a guitar synth, the way you're doing the pitch bends. I think this is your best song overall man! I also listened to "Lagoon of the Blue Howlers": cool song! Nice audio quality and relaxing!

This is the original Lily Was Here,

https://youtu.be/ypbjIwbTR8c

Although several covers exist, and Candy is still touring.

Glad you enjoyed the music! I had to work OT on the pitchbends. There is
a barely hearable guitar vst under the synth, to provide some pluck.
Lagoon is one of my favorites, etched on the insomniac mp3 player!

glokraw,
Yes, that was the exact video I watched earlier, thank you! OK, so I wasn't crazy when I made the guitar synth comment. I don't remember the specifics because I have recorded over 400 original songs, but I have done this at least once. Recorded some (only one note at a time) guitar; used Melodyne Assistant to turn that into MIDI data, which then triggered a synth plugin; combining both sounds. Can't remember which song(s) I did that with.

When I hear-read 'guitar synth', I think of the Fishman or Roland guitar setups with
midi output. In my case, I wanted a pluk, without the rest of the sound competing with the desired synth tone, so simply a quiet layer, and the synth attack envelope let the guitar sound slip in the front door. I bought a Sonuus GM2 pitch-to-midi gizmo in hopes of using the unique voicings on a guitar with some efficient synth plugin or hardware sounds, even found a spare midi cable. It won't track and convert fast enough for shredding, according to reviews, but should offer some new possibilities. :hyper:

I put 2 songs in my music website: "Scene of The Crime" (has plenty of Presswerk compression, Repro-5, and Hive 2) is the song on top, and "Heart Melt 2" (has ZebraHZ) is the next song down. The synth keys are Repro-5, the Bass Repro-1 and the melodies Diva. Oh, and a tiny bit of Hive at the end:

The melody was originally done with another synth, but over time it became clear that Diva brought more life to the sound, which made it all u-he except for percussion and FX.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Bazille was put to work in this, I re-discovered the origins while sorting through backups. At the height of the covid panic, my wife had a non-covid emergency, and I rushed her to the ER around midnight. Nobody was allowed in the hospital, and as my dream girl was readied for transport, my eyes locked with a young nurse, and in a moment, her eyes told an epic tale of raw courage in the face of the unknown. I attempted to capture that unforgettable moment.

I put 2 songs in my music website: "Sitting On The Fence" (has plenty of Presswerk compression and RePro-5 and some non-u-he synths) is the song on top, and "Something to Gain 2" (has ZebraHZ and no other keyboard synths) is the next song down. These are full of great rhythms, instrumental changes/blends, key-changes, subtle musicianship drop-ins, and not-so-subtle energy. The modulated tremolo is very nice. The drummer is still cookin' on the front burner, and the guitar solos blended with synths are fresh, doesn't remind me of old rockers fighting arthritis. Earlier today I was previewing the moving parts presets in Hive...some great ones there.

I think the eery intro in Something To Gain transitioning to a surf-guitar sound works fine, and blending that with the more modern guitar effects later is also sounding good. If the drums are still remote, maybe some future 'vacation' can get your team all under one roof?. Strictly for fun, not for any lack of expertise!

Gear is just getting crazy, lately! Cheers

glokraw,
Thank you for the reviews, I appreciate it! Interesting guitar sounds on those videos. Now listening to "Broken Fever": nice synth sounds! Sounds fairly relaxing for me, even if it did not reflect your feelings at the time. Hope your wife is doing well now. Listening to "Witness For The Prosecution": pretty trippy man! I would call it trance, but perhaps you'd think it is a different genre. Both songs are nice. :)

Thanks for checking out some tunes! Here's a new one, 'Missing Friends', using a pair of Hive2 instances in the mix. Although I had many wonderful friends in HS and community college, I was never much good at lasting friendships, and sometimes wonder how those cool friends have fared in the decades since.

(Being a witness is pretty trippy :scared: I've learned to take notes right after any incident that seems strange, in case it links to some crime yet to take place, or be discovered.
