pekbro wrote: Tue May 30, 2023 10:15 pm Yea thats super cheap for moho, i paid $300 something for the current pro-version of moho. Its not the greatest 2D animation package you can buy, but even at full price its way cheaper than the multi-thousand dollar standards. It's mature and stable having been around for nearly 30 years now. :tu:

*You can use it as a compositor too, so your animations dont have to look cartoonish. You can animate photos easily.
Well, it's the last day before the offer expires, and I've still not bought it. As someone that spends a lot of time in Photoshop (mostly) and Cinema 4D R11.5 for doing animation and 3D object creation, I'm struggling to see how using this would fit into my projects. 2D animation really isn't my thing, and particularly character animation isn't either. I hate buying software that I don't end up using.
It's not for everyone no doubt. For me, beyond full-on character animation, I see it more as a quick and convenient compositor for images and 2d graphics. No doubt this is nothing you could not accomplish in cinema 4d or even Davinci resolve or whatever. Tho I would think those would
be quite a bit more complicated.
Well, it looks like Moho 12.5 is running for another 13 days. Hopefully, in that time, there will be something else that feels more up my street for my needs. I notice that Moho does physics, but it's really basic. Doing 2D animation with physics is pretty easy in C4D, including with hair.

More artistic software... looks like a repeat from a few years ago in this bundle, other than a version number change with Rebelle.

^ worth it though, Rebelle is excellent. Current version is 6

I tried Rebelle in the past, it was nice. I prefer painter, clip studio and PS at any rate.

Having bought the same suite of software in this bundle previously, I have made use of Amberlight 2, for many projects, including for GUI re-skinning, such as for Dune 3. It's really useful as an aid for Photoshop work as you can create art that would be really difficult to do, by other means, and as quickly. I'm not a traditional artist, but it is fun to mess around with traditional art tools on odd occasions.

Just a heads up, some of the sample packs ^ say they come in mp3 format. Some are wav but a lot say mp3 which is not great. I'll even go 16bit but mp3's that's not useful to me. Too bad some of them look/sound interesting. Who knows tho maybe there's enough wav packs to make it worth it.

Post

If you use the mp3's together with a daw it's ok.
I think most daws unpack the audio to its track automatically when you drag it in.
Even if you don't use it for songs or the daw is bad with movie sound it takes a second to unpack it in the daw and save it as wav or use an app to batch convert them to wav.

-------------following is a bit off topic and can be jumped------------------------

Cakewalks media browser lets you preview both wav and mp3 to find that audio you like.
I have a NAS on my local network with approx 10.000 sample files organized in folders. I can preview them without any noticeable latency. Doesn't need a sample manager for that.

These are snippets of sound that will be mixed with other sounds. How do you recognize the lower quality of a short sample within the resulting mix?

I don't think it's too much to ask for a sample library to use a lossless format.
