Hey guys,
Any sound designers here can help with a preset that sounds like the Log Drum preset on Fl Studio's DX10? or how to make it on Serum or Sylenth? I'm using Ableton 10.
I've been trying to get that sound for days but I keep getting that 'Donk' bass ffs!
Here's an example on youtube (jump to 24:48 to get what I mean)

One love

Serum doesn't give you the same type of attack to that sound but you could add the main pitch to another envelope and create a quick down pitch for 1-5 milliseconds and then set amount to taste

Dude! you are a legend mate!
I kinda got close to making a similar sound and your right, Serum doesn't have that impact on the attack. I've also tried it on Sylenth and it seems to be a bit better than Serum.
Big up brotherman! You are an absolute BAWS!

Hero! This video really helped. I'm using serum and was struggling to get the sound (miles off). Followed your video, used separate envelops to modulate FM and the filter and added a kick transient, gave it a sharp attack and modulated the pitch to get more of that click. Worked a treat.

Choos, I tried to recreate the patch in Vital yesterday, but it sounded very different. I'm not sure I did the FM modulation correctly. Then I tried the same in Abletons Operator and it sounded even more different (but I ended up creating a very kool sound, not a log drum bass though).
Can you show how to do it in Vital, especially the FM part?

That attacky bit can obviously also be done in Serum but it was an afterthought from the last time I recorded it

Hey Choos thank you for the tutorial really appreciated. I went and got Vital and tried it for myself but can’t seem to get the resonance right, mine sounds more Low Passed (blanketed) do you perhaps have anything on your master bus? I’m a Logic Pro X user and tired of layering instruments, Vital is my best bet.

If you have Vital now try downloading the preset from this post above (3 replies back)
If it still sounds wrong then something strange is going on. I always start with a fresh session of FL when I record so master is "neutral"

You could add a very fast pitch envelope to add some attack/punch too.CHOOS wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 8:02 pm Serum doesn't give you the same type of attack to that sound but you could add the main pitch to another envelope and create a quick down pitch for 1-5 milliseconds and then set amount to taste

If anyone is still looking to create this sound from scratch (in Ableton) I've just created a quick tutorial! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zebmpJJZJRE

It's just an FM Bass used in modern deep house tracks yes it is the donk bass, but you can shorten the filter so its more plucky.
Very easy to create in Ableton's Wavetable.
