Pop/click noise in 808 - FL Studio Sampler vs TX16Wx

I've tried many 808 samples, same results. No issue in FL Studio, but the noise is still present in TX16Wx.
Here's the screen recording with an audio, so you can get an idea what's the actual issue with that weird noise. Same sample.

Any recommendations?

Add a slight release to the AMP env. FL studio obviously does this for you (always using a fade-out). TX does what you say instead.

Thank you, but I've tried that among the other two basic tips/tricks:
- attack adjustment
- edit the start of the sample

How is the ADSR envelope calculated by the way? Let's say I've sampled a melodic loop that's 8 seconds long, but I set the start to second 1 and the end to second 5. Will the attack, release etc be calculated for the whole 8 seconds or for the 4 seconds from second 1 to 5?
I too struggle with that clicking sometimes, though I can't really find a proper release/fade out value to stop it. To be honest, as I'm still a noob, I can't really make the release value induce any audible changes. Let's say for example I have a drum sound. Attack value will change the sound, sustain will change it, but I can't seem to make the release work. It just doesn't change anything, doesn't matter if I set it to 50ms or 5s.
To make helping me easier I've created an example project with a 4 bar melodic loop. Could you please tell me how to set the ADSR (Sound: Track 1) of the Sample so that the loop doesn't produce clicking? Or rather: So that the release value creates any change?

You are (for some reason) using a loop in oneshot-mode in the sampler, with self-choke enabled. This will 100% bypass any release you have set in the envelope, since the playing voice is getting stolen, and envelope or not, it will terminate the previous sound.
Set choke group to 1 and crack up the choke fade to 30-40 or so to get a smooth fade-out.

The reason for that is that I don't want to trim perfect loops from samples, but rather make the sound loop by setting a start point and then playing with the project's tempo or tuning/detuning until it loops fine. This is the way I know it from MPCs.
I've tried your suggested changes, but that doesn't seem to have an effect either. Do I have to set the sample to normal/toggle and poly to make the choke group and choke fade out work?

Turn off self-choke, turn on choke group 1 and set choke fade to 40ms. Worked for me.

Ahh! I had overlooked the "sc", sorry. Could it be that there's no entry for that in the manual?
What setting was actually bypassing the release? Was it the oneshot, the mono or the activated self choke? I really need to get familiar with all these terms. Usually I do have a glimpse of what they do, but I don't yet understand what's happening technically. That's why sometimes it's hard for me to follow.

So I've been thinking about this. The release only comes into play when a note is played normally, because release defines the time the sample fades out after the fingers leave the key, is that right? And therefore - as the sample is set to oneshot and only triggered once - the release can't come into play by definition. And to counter this there is the self choke fade out? Do I understand this correctly?
@SWX_33: Maybe that was your problem, too? Had you set your samples to oneshot? If so, maybe try the choke fade out solution. Worked for me.

No, oneshot or not, the release is played. It is the group being mono that causes the voice to be repurposed and the envelope interrupted.

Yes! That setting was the problem. Changed that to "Poly". Now it works as I want. Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help on this.

The release in general works as intented though, right? I've been doing some tests with drum and piano samples, but no matter my settings and the release times, I am unable to hear audible differences.

Could you please tell me this? I really wonder if I should trim my samples or if it's enough to just set start and end point.dunadan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 7:09 pm How is the ADSR envelope calculated by the way? And please help me with this also: In the example above. Let's say I set the cfd to 40 OR to 1200. Why does it not sound differently? This is beyond me, I just don't understand how that can be the case. Shouldn't the latter make the sample fade out clearly audible for 1,2 seconds?

Envelope has nothing to do with the sample. It is a function curve (in the case we are talking about one that describes the basic playback volume) applied to the playback of a "voice". Which sample/synth tone, how long the sample is, where it starts or ends etc does not affect the envelope at all. It runs on time from note on (voice trigger) to which ever comes first of AEG end or playback (i.e. sample) end. (When doing note-off, the envelope jumps to release mode).
As for cfd; It only applies to a voice stolen by choke group. Nothing else. If you stop the voice by some other means, it will not be applied.

Honestly, those pop/click sounds are still a problem for me that I cannot solve. I've been trying the Ableton Simpler with the same samples I tried using in TX, and it literally does not produce any pop/click sounds at all, no matter the settings. Here is a picture of the default, you can see that there is a little fade out set. But even if I turn that off completely - no unwanted sounds.
You said that TX gives you choice and I don't mind that I'd have to emulate manually what for example the Simpler does by default. Just - I still don't know how that works fully reliably.
What's the equivalent of having that fade in and out in oneshot mode? Attack and release? Doesn't work for me. What's the equivalent in mono, oneshot, choke group mode? Choke fade while sc is off? Doesn't work for me either, at least not reliably. One loop "round" it pops - next it doesn't.
