Seems AI is already here to takeover.
This is legit the beginning of AI music takeover. Just like AI began with painters and it was laughable then few years later BOOM AI now makes better art than 99% of human painters

Wow... Impressive level of technical sophistication, yet those songs sound like generic examples of their respective genres to me. I guess purveyors of schlock are on notice, hopefully not everyone else, tho...
A well-behaved signature.

I think context is key here. Commercial music production, IMO, is absolutely headed for it’s AI demise.
Other types of music a la the 2 hour DAWless generative drone jam sessions and experimental 70s pop-folk yodeling kazoo reimaginings of said jam sessions? That’s probably safe from AI.
If someone here is a stanch naysayer of AI’s disruptive potential, try to figure out what they consider “good”, or “real” music.
Over on GS a user I’ll not name who just completely $h!ts on literally everything music-wise made a post with the title of something like “You need all these pre-made samples, [some artist] only needs one note” and was like fanboying over said producer. Their amazing better-than-every-modern-producer skill? Sampling one piano note and pitching it into a chord lol. Everyone was like “wtf this is so basic” and the OP was like:
Point is, it helps to know what someone considers good/real/whatever music as a baseline for when they say AI music is garbage.

I then better listen to Hatsune Miku. At least there is a Band playing and the Voice is Hand-generated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhl5afLEKdo
Now, compare that to the so called "AI-generated music".
Btw. The so called AI music is hand generated too. From where should stupid machine select the samples?
How can stupid machine create a kick drum without having kick-drums as a template?
"Machine Learning" has templates for everything. How should a stupid machine know what is a human preferred style?
AI is a gigantic Eyewash firsthand. It is still man made. AI put predefined puzzles together and what it is putting together is 99% predefined too.

I "asked" ChatGPT to rephrase my forum post. Here is the AI rephrasing:
( ChatGPT )
Certainly! Here's a rephrased version of your forum post:
"I find it more appealing to listen to Hatsune Miku because there's an actual band involved, and the voice is manually crafted.
Now, let's consider the so-called 'AI-generated music.'
By the way, even this so-called AI music is created manually. How can a machine, devoid of its own creative capacity, select samples without any prior input? How could it possibly generate a kick drum without having any pre-existing templates?
"Machine Learning" heavily relies on templates for everything. How can a machine devoid of personal taste comprehend what style humans prefer? It seems that AI is primarily a facade. It's essentially human-made, piecing together predefined elements and arranging them, with nearly 99% of its output being predetermined."

Yes, absolutely: You summed it up nicely.
Anyone who has thought along until this point will notice one
thing: the AI composes the song, writes the lyrics and produces
the song. Finally, the AI mixes and masters the song. At the end,
the AI listens to the song - and evaluates it.
This is a closed AI loop: The human being is no longer present
anywhere. Because the AI listens to its own songs - evaluates
them - writes new songs again, etc. When this development has
really got going in a few years, then it will only be the AI that is
active and creative.
Anyone who wants to get involved in this cycle - maybe even
want to become creative himself or herself - will have to realize
brusquely and hard that he doesn't fit in: He is eternally too
incompetent, too incapable, too slow! The AI can do everything
better - and it develops infinitely fast. It develops music by AIs for
AIs!

Do ppl really think some Generative AI model has a Splice account and is literally using samples?
Like “AI” opens up a DAW, load Serum or any other synth plugin, adds a bunch of Loopmasters and Cymatics sample files, and produces a track for you in the 2 minutes the website says “generating song”?
Is that what some ppl think is going on lol?

When generating music does AI work with tracks?
Only one track?
No tracks.
Is how AI generates music occurs in the black box?

Out of curiosity had a mess about with the Output AI sample pack generator;
https://coproducer.output.com/pack-generator
Bit hit and miss at interpreting the various prompts I tried, as is the quality of the results. What I did notice is that for a lot of quite different prompts it returned a good proportion of examples using pedal steel.
Poor machine just wanted to be in a country band.

AI will only take over in music if you let it. It will be used by lazy, can’t be assed ‘producers’ who have no original ideas. The people who say it will take over, I guess that means you. Ahem
I wonder what happens if I press this button...
