Still Satin.
Honorable mention softube tape for more obvious quick and dirty.
Wavesfactory Cassette for destruction
but i don't really use tape that often i think?

great general purpose lofizer with superb magnitude control, which is not a parallel mix, but actual intensity of wowing and destruction.

Only one vote for the Klevgrand REAMP. But it can sound really well using the "cassette deck" model with the mix knob set to 40% and some in-plugin EQ and drive tweaks!
It always dips the 5k in favor of the 2k though that can be addressed with some other EQ plugin.
the free version also sounds very nice with the mix knob at 20-30%

A pretty good free tape plugin is Variety of Sound FerricTDS. It's been around for many years (it was a winner of the KVR developers challenge 2009 !) and it's still trusty.

I've actually been eyeing up the Reelbus 4 from Toneboosters, does anyone know how the CPU usage is? I have an IK one but it really eats it up

Nowhere near IK; running pretty smooth over here even using multiple Instances.

i dont know , i found that 32 bit version but it is ok because my host reads 32 bit without problems.
Oat is amazing free synth with excellent randomize function, honestly if you want to make lo fi ambient like BOC you need only simple synths and tape effects and you can do all with free stuff
i am going back into simple synths, it is weird going from making reaktor ensembles from blocks to using synths that i started with
