i have 6 synth presets on 6 different chains in a patchwork preset.
it's great how low the cpu usage is when only one is solo'd.
i can switch to chainX, but it would work much better if i had chain up and chain down buttons.
that will take two buttons on my interface. the other option will take 6.
is this feasible?

It is currently not feasible "as is", unless your MIDI controller can be programmed.
Another option is just to save the 6 states as 6 presets in a folder, and then use the Next/previous preset MIDI commands (it supports MIDI CC) to navigate between them. It would have the exact same effect, not reloading the entire state of synths every time.
