Where do you buy your wavetables?

I’d like to extend the capabilities of a few of my plugins and hardware synths. I’ve rolled my own in the past, but frankly I don’t feel like dedicating the time to it at the moment, and I want to just buy a few decent patches. A lot of what I’m finding seems very geared towards IDM with super harsh sounding stuff and what I’m after are more balanced, but interesting wavetables, in the vein of Waldorf and PPG. (But not exactly those) Maybe cool stuff, like a wavetable made from some exotic rare instrument.

They're really nice. IIRC, they were originally made by Wolfram Franke from Waldorf.

I paid for the "wavetable package" - it was something stupid, like £10 and I got a download link *lots* of wavetables

I assume you know you can make your own wavetables easily using the free Waveedit.

Lately, I've distanced a bit myself from all those crazy wild wavetables for the exact same reasons as you mentioned, as most of the time they turn up into a mash of digital noise. I kinda (re)discovered the power of the single-cycle waves that I use as building blocks for synthesis. The single-cycle format forces me to use them as timbre just like a regular oscillator instead of going crazy with all those weird wavetable postions. Give that a try, you might be surprised by the solid and interesting results sound wise

I make mine in Icarus by using resynthesis or manual editing waves for fun. Icarus and Serum have cool square brushes that are great for Namco or PC-Engine-style waveforms.

I just find free ones like AKWF, sample them from sounds, use stock ones from a synth, or draw them.

I remember people were so obsessed with wavetable editors/creators you often call synth having a shortcoming if it doesnt have it. So where are you wavetables you created now lol

It isn't that easy to create good or interesting sounding waveforms/wavetables. About 90% of the stuff which usually comes with synths isn't very usable or musical to me.

The best (onboard) wavetables I came across so far were from Waldorf and Access Music.
