Samples or physical modeling in Polo & Pan tracks?

How to make that sound...

There's a characteristic sound in several Polo & Pan tracks that is an arpeggiated marimba type sound. In trying to reproduce something like it I'm trying to figure out if what I'm hearing is a sample with some effects on it or some sort of physical modeling, or maybe a blend of both?

There's a good example of a couple layers of this type of sound on the track Canopee, particulary from 3:45 to the end of the track.

There's another example at the end (after 3:00) in Cœur croisé

Would love to hear what your ears pick up as going on in there, what's giving it that characteristic sound, and how I can get close to it.

Thanks!

sounds like a glass bottle being hit to me in the 2nd track
The first one is a very busy mix but it's similar enough
You could separate the stems to see if it's any clearer
