Recorded a cover of Pale Shelter by Tears for Fears for shits and giggles.
Not sure if I've found the right mix yet, so here are a couple of them.

Santisa: a bit too happy at first, the second lead I like. Maybe for your impact try taking the punch (mids) out and make their timing something that dissapates slowly and in time with the bpm. Use a de-esser carefully on your hihats and set their treble to use a bit of mono, it's also good to use a bit of pan to the left and even automate the pan.
The glitch you used on the beat too strained and it's too continuous during the wait for the second drop. The rest is choice. You might consider using automations for a few bands of an eq to make the sound evolve as they listen.
Way too much harshness on the white noise; you need to also use a comp on white noise that does not add colour like dryness. For smoothness a free product to make it sound nice is the tls limiter if you need cheap.

A quick 2020 release wrap up... for whatever reason.
-I released an album early in the year that was sort of a part 1 of my early KVR (pre-2010) sketches and wips finally turned into something worth publishing named "Technical Failure". Many people on this board will possibly remember some of the early versions of these tracks from here in the LB.

-Later in the year, I released a follow up (part 2) release of these early tracks called "Hard Drive Recovery". Though the original links are dead, I have found most of the original tracks are still posted in the music cafe from dates as early as 2004.

-I released 2 side projects, also some older recognizable stuff I was working on here in the LB many moons ago. One is an EP from my Tulver Densa project and the other is a glitch, electronic hip hop project simply called 'Jazzyspoon and Jaeser' (which many of you remixed a long time ago for fun) that were long overdue for an actual release.

And finally and most topically, I annually update or add to my Christmas/Winter themed album (free release). Loungy, melancholy, ambient trip hop Xmas jams to cozy up with to end this introspective, oddball year.

Here to the coming New Year. Have a safe and cozy Holiday.

HI! This is my second electronic release.
I am more a progressive rock artist, but I also like to play other genres, and in the last couple of years I have recorded two electronic albums.
I don't listen to electronic music so much but I love synthesizers and make my own sounds.
For his release I used many soft synths, the most used ones where Pigments (mainly my custom presets), V Collection and Synthmaster 2.9, also some Softube stuff, Hive2 and many others.
I am curious about which electronic music subgenre you think my album would fit? Sometimes people ask me and I don't really know. What do you think?
