Pitchwheel

Pitchwheel is a real-time pitch changing plug-in - it changes the pitch of a sound without changing its length. It has a large, easy to use, dial and simple parameters making it a fast and creative effect unit. It has a range of two semi-tones to two octaves, which gives you control from subtle tuning changes to wild swings of pitch. The user pointer acts as a desired pitch change, and the actual pitch is produced by smoothing and inertia controls. Pitchwheel moves towards the desired pitch at sample accuracy, enabling nice transitions without stepping. A DJ turntable feel can be created with some play, but the difference here is that the tempo remains the same, so your track can go on without sequence timing changes.

You can of course use it static, to create odd alien sounds, and character changes. Doppler effects can be simulated easily, or just use it to alter background atmospheres in real-time to get them just right.

The stereo image is kept intact on all pitches, without movement across the channels. The buffer size parameter gives you control of the internal processing; some sounds work better on larger sizes, others, like percussion benefit from smaller buffers. All latencies are kept the same on all sizes.

Features:

  • Changes the pitch but not the length of a sound.
  • Large and easy to to use, ideal for experiments and live performances.
  • Full range adjustments from one semitone to an octave up or down.
  • Unique inertia parameters for springy vibrato effects.
  • Sample accurate changes prevent stepped pitch changes.
  • Phase locked for stereo sounds.
  • Buffer size changes, allows quality adjustments for vocal or percussion.
  • Great visual feed-back with semitone snap, and actual pitch indicator.
  • Extremely low CPU.

Product: BarChimes
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Chimes
Price: Free
OS: Windows
Formats: VST
BarChimes is an accurate physics simulation of a set of Bar Chimes, which includes collisions, slides and multi-chain hits of 36 semi-tone tuned bars. Features: A detailed 36 bar physics simulation. Collisions, gravity and audio accurately portrayed. Velocity and sweep analysis simulates movement through the chimes. Photo-realistic 3D representation. Use the Natural (or White) MIDI notes to sweep up the chimes (C3 to C8). The start and direction of sweep, combined with speed, are the main contributors to the output of the chimes - it's not about hitting individual notes. Note that the MIDI n... [more]

Product: Crowd Chamber
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Crowd Simulator
Price: £15
OS: WindowsMac OS XUniversal Binary
Formats: VSTAudio Unit
Crowd Chamber is an audio plug-in that layers multiple variations of a signal to create a crowd simulation. Up to almost 2,000,000 layers can be produced enabling simple chorusing effects, small crowds and stadiums, on to impossible situations and effects. When each voice is mixed, it is altered in varying time and spectral content, making unique versions of itself to create the illusion of different sources. This effect can be fed back onto itself to create many thousands of voices in real-time. Once the concept had been created it became clear that Crowd Chamber could create far more than s... [more]

Product: Fusion Field
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Reverb
Price: £50
OS: WindowsMac OS XUniversal Binary
Formats: VSTAudio Unit
Fusion Field is a smooth reverb designed to sit well in a mix - its clean, unobtrusive, sound has a natural falloff that floats behind, and complements, the source material. Fusion Field is very easy to use, and the main display shows the effects of the dampening and EQ in a plain natural way. The reverberation can be dampened in the upper and lower frequencies, allowing soft sibilance and a graceful, lifting air to the sound. Having very few controls does not hinder Fusion Field's usefulness. The dial ranges have been sloped to give the best sensitivity in useful regions, and the whole unit ... [more]

Product: Glass Viper
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Synth (Analogue / Subtractive)
Price: £35
OS: WindowsMac OS XUniversal Binary
Formats: VSTAudio Unit
Glass Viper is a synthesizer with unique waveform shaping, that has a deep and natural sense of movement. Going beyond analogue simulation, into a truly organic sound, from simple old synths to grungy filthy basses, or delicate pianos to strange unnatural film effects. Instead of taking a sample or oscillator and applying just filters and FX techniques, Glass Viper bends the actual shape of its waveforms through a series of moving control points. Up to four of these swirling and changing sounds can be layered together to create a huge range of instruments. From the start, Glass Viper's goal wa... [more]

Product: RaySpace
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Reverb
Price: £50
OS: WindowsMac OS XUniversal Binary
Formats: VSTAudio Unit
RaySpace uses real-time ray-tracing techniques to analyze hand drawn spaces created by the user. Essentially, you just move the source and listener locations around, draw walls to make enclosures, and listen as the surround impulse responses are made on the fly! Rayspace uses up to 512 different ray-traced sound directions, each one continuously collecting information from the enclosures. Taking into account air absorbency and the effect of each wall reflection and filtering made en route to the listener. RaySpace does not use any smearing filters, or any convolution algorithms. It simply boun... [more]

Product: UpStereo
Developer: QuikQuak
Type: Imaging / Panning / Spatial
Price: Free
OS: WindowsMac OS XUniversal Binary
Formats: VSTAudio Unit
UpStereo is a simple, useful tool to make your mixes bigger, in stereo width and loudness. It uses three basic basic systems: A fixed frequency EQ designed to lift the highest audio frequencies, and boost the bass. A stereo width unit, for expanding stereo sounds so they appear wider and fatter. At extreme levels other characteristics are also brought out of the sound, so this can also be used as a tonal control for individual instruments. This also has a mono setting, useful for squashing up those aggressive samples that take over the mix. A loudness button that raises the waveform to th... [more]
