Friction is a physical modeling synthesizer designed to be applicable to a range of emulative tasks, and is suitable for budget foley production or experimental music.
The architecture applies a friction algorithm to a 2nd order mass-spring, modeling the reactivity of surfaces in contact. Two waveguides are used to model the primary resonances of a physical object. The synthesis engine employs 4x oversampling, providing reasonable emulations of sounds produced by friction, such as squealing tires, squeaky hinges and wiping noises.
Modulation consists of three 32-stage envelopes (designed by Chris Kerry,) 4 configurable LFOs and an x-y pad. A group of sends allows modulators and controllers to be assigned to multiple destinations, similar to those used on xoxos' other physical models such as Fauna and Oscine Tract.

Circuit creates rhythms by joining short phrases together. This is intended to produce more natural algorithmic sequences by evening the distribution of beats and rests. Fauna is a simple waveguide model of the vocal tract intended to provide a flexible platform for the synthesis of abstract and animal voices. Waveguide synthesis is a physical modeling technique that makes use of delay lines to model the transmission of acoustic vibrations. Period Seq is a simple algorithmic MIDI generator that applies four counters to two clocks and four reset rates. It can produce non-repeating or complex, structured feeling sequences automatically. The GUI is designed for applying performance variations in use. Each counter normally creates MIDI notes at a regular periodic interval after being reset. Phase Seq easily generates unquantised looping MIDI sequences that are more difficult to achieve in some hosts.
