Nebula3 is an audio-equipment modelling VST plug-in that uses Acustica Audio's Vectorial Volterra Kernels Technology (VVKT). It emulates different types of vintage gear: equalizers, filters, microphones, preamps, compressors, reverb and generic time-variant processors (chorus, flangers, phasers).

Acustica Audio has taken a sophisticated "sampling approach", using its VVKT technology to model audio processing methods, which makes it possible to "record" aspects of the sound of an audio device and play them back. Typically, the result of this sampling process is highly realistic sounding emulations of many types of audio processing device that can be used to process any audio signal (e.g. Vocals, synthesizer sounds, etc.).

With regards to the maturity of this process, the Acustica audio team has extensively sampled a number of different devices and created many great models. A small number of these models have been made freely available within the public release of Nebula3 Free but the commercial library contains several hundred different real hardware emulations and it is growing every day.
